Jim Dale is one of Britain's great stage entertainers: actor, singer, comedian and narrater. From a small town in the Midlands to the West End and Broadway. He has won numerous awards and is often regarded as one of the most versatile actors in the world.

I always saw him as one of the most under appreciated member of Carry On and British comedy. He was brilliant in the Carry On films. He managed to be both the romantic lead and the clumsy buffoon being totally believable in both. Hugely talented man.

@@MarkMahoney The problem with Leon is there were lots of women around the 70's Carry On period , Fraser represented a small handful of girls in the early 60's era. She was born the same year as Joan Sims but she was a favourite amongst the men, (Sims was a bit average looking and female audiences sympathised with her more, that's why she was a legend) Valerie along with Angela Douglas and Jacki Piper might tend to be overlooked.

I was lucky enough to have seen him perform his one-man show, 'Just Jim Dale' at a packed Vaudeville Theatre in London in 2015, shortly before his 80th(!) birthday. He told showbiz stories, sang songs, danced to them, even, and made us laugh over and over. He was as charming, entertaining and charasmatic as you could imagine, with the energy and physicality of a man less than half his age. To this day it remains one of the best shows I've ever seen. Love that man.

I love Jim Dale. ❤ He is so unappreciated as an incredible vocal talent and actor. I didn’t realise how much vocal, talent he had until I listened to the Harry Potter audio books. Immaculately performed; I must have listened to them fifty times. We saw him as Fagin in Oliver which was brilliant, and his other stage appearances speak for themselves. His comic talent in the Carry On films was just another one of his talents. What a great all round performer and even more importantly- what a lovely man.

I am so pleased he has had such a marvellous life. Over my 64 years I have met many stars and royalty but always hoped one day just to shake his hand and get his autograph. A very dry actor his comedy was infectious. I own all of the Carry On movies and his time spent with them was fabulous. I married an American and hope ot one day emigrate from UK to USA sadly not to be and we parted ways. I wish you all the best Jim. Bless you for all the laughter.

I saw Jim Dale's one man show at the Vaudeville Theatre, London in 2015. He was not much shy of 80 years old then. An extraordinary show by an enormously talented all-rounder. He really could do it all : sing, dance, write, perform, drama, comedy. I didn't know until I saw this show that he co-wrote 'Georgy Girl' which was a hit for The Seekers in 1966 and the title track for the film of the same name.

Lovely man, brilliant comedic and serious actor and extremely likeable. I didn’t know about his singing career, so he was an all rounder. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, thank you Jim for giving us the laughs. Great to have received a Tony award. Learned more about him from this upload and so pleased he is still with us.

Clever man. I am 67 and have always seen him over the years in Carry On films but I had no idea of who he really is until this clip. Nice to see he is still alive, prolly has to be to pay the mortgage on his lovely spread.

I managed to obtain the US versions of the Harry Potter audiobooks (despite living in the UK) just because of Jim Dale's vocal characterisations. Over 240 distinct voices! It's no wonder he won awards for these books.

Well done Jim. A fitting tribute to a much loved actor, in a profession that is far from predictable. Did anyone ever tell you that the older you get, the more you look like Spike Milligan 😅
