Here is our maiden voyage in our new camper van, the Winnebago Solis. A lot of firsts in this trip. First time in Lassen. Our first night camping in the van. Our first experience boondocking and dispersed camping. We hope you enjoy this adventure.

Congrats! We love our Solis, too! Our version is the Murphy bed one, but I think the couch version is the better one.

Hi B. Congrats with your Solis too. I guess it depends on how you are going to use the van. If we do not road trip with extra people, I would have gotten the Murphy for extra storage space for our bikes.

@@HenryAndDonna Thanks for the reply. I think that when we bought ours, the couch version was not available and it would be several months before the dealership had one. I agree that being able to put bikes without any problems in the back is very convenient, but isn't it true that the rear couch can be removed if you're just doing a day trip to the beach or park?

Congrats on your van and on a wonderful first outing! We are extremely interested in the Solis PX! We live in a Florida so the AC and quiet generator in the 2021 PX will be awesome. We will be following your journey for sure! Thank you for letting us follow along! 🤙

Thanks to both of you for another GREAT share and video! I cam back after seeing 1, and SO glad I did! Read all the comments and it answered most of my questions on Sumo Springs, sounds like a must do upgrade and wish I had known with my 1st RV Class C, as you say it makes such a difference. Curious though on what tool for rear spring installation? Would love to get one sooner than later and hit the road again in something like this for solo and maybe can talk daughter and grandson into it since air travel is out still for now. All the BEST to you and family and Cheers from PNW! You have covered more in sharing than you know :)

Congratulations!!! I hope the family has Great adventures. Not sure if you signed up for "good Sam's" from Camping world but it gives you discounts along with the booklet of camping sites, camp grounds around the nation. Another choice is signing up for "harvest host" and overbite and if you ask may stay longer @ vineyards, winery's, golf courses, and museums. There is a small fee but its annual and year round especially since covid19 quarantine has been lifted you'll find campgrounds are sometimes over booked.

Thanks for the tip! We've heard of Harvest Host. The last camping trips we've had we chose to dry camp somewhere along the route or near the area we wanted to see. So far we've been lucky! No reservations needed. So happy with the van since it's pretty nimble and has everything we need.

Hi, great video! I am also looking to purchase a Solis RV soon. So I've got few questions, and wondering if you can share them in a upcoming video. Looks like you got your Solis from La Mesa RV, what was your purchase experience, price negotiation tips, or what to look out for, the research you did as a first time RV owner. Lastly, can you share the approximate location of the camp site? Thanks!

Hi WT Chen, we will definitely address those in our next videos. But as far price negotiation is concerned, there's really no room right now because this camper van is selling like hotcakes and all dealerships are taking advantage of it. Here's what I can tell you, from the time we started looking, the price has gone up significantly (above $10K for sure). That site that we found was on Highway 89, right by the lake. Just look for dirt driveways.

Great video and congrats! Great tip on the Sumo springs. Did you have them installed and if so, what was total cost incl install?

Thank you. This is Henry, I installed them myself, front and rear. It's a simple and easy job. I'm sure you can easily do it yourself if you are handy. The rear bump stops are just screwed-in place. You just have to lift the rear so you have room to uninstall the old one and screw the new one in. For the front, you just slide the urethane material between the turns of the coil springs and secure with the included zip ties. I'll see if I can create a quick diy video for this.

Where do the kids sit when driving. I need to use car seats for grandkids and no tether strap, do you know if can be added....dealer would not do it.

Congrats on your RV. How does hot weather affect sleeping at night. Did you purchase a portable ac unit?

Thanks David. We haven't really experienced a hot weather at night. The MaxxAir vent fan in the back is amazing though. I believe it was high 80's outside one night and the vent was working as it was designed - vents all the hot air out and made us all comfy inside.

Hi there. Thank you so much for supporting our youtube channel. I installed both front and rear Sumo Springs on ours. The tires are BFG (BFGoodrich) KO2 LT245/70R17 mounted on Method Race Wheels.

Hi there, I'm curious about the bathroom. I just went to see a Solis, and I asked the salesperson about the bathroom extending out to the kitchen. It seems like he didn't know much about that either. So when you opened the bathroom door, it creates a bigger space. But is there a cover on the other side closer to the front of the van? And the water cannot go outside the shower stall, correct? The curtain stays inside the stall? That part is not very clear, and none of the video says anything about that. Also, when you are up on the roof, is there a cover to cover the hole? Or there's no need to cover it to be able to sleep up there? Thank you. I'm seriously considering this van. Any deal that you may know about? 😄

Hi there. The bathroom door doesn't allow you to extend the size of the bathroom. The curtain stays inside and is there to protect the wooden door and keep the the hallway floor from getting wet (just in case). When you say hole, I'm assuming you meant the access part. You don't need to cover it. The bed area has plenty of room to lie down comfortably. Good deal? I guess you just need to look around. The Solis' price has been marked up a lot by some dealership because of the high demand. Hope this answers your questions.

I'm not sure what's the point of opening the door while using the bathroom. I assume if someone is taking a shower, everyone has to exit the van? And also is there ventilation in the bathroom? How does the smell exit?

In all the pictures of the Solis, I've only seen the front two seats but yours also has a rear seat with seatbelt when driving. Was this an option when purchasing?

Hello. Yes, there is a sofa bed or a Murphy bed option.

Is there enough storage in the sofa model for 4 people? How many miles per gallon did you get on this trip?

More than enough storage for sure in the back and under the sofa/bed itself. We just came back from our Yosemite trip and we had two additional adults with us (that's 6 people). All our personal bags, mostly duffel bags (and my gear/tool bags), fit in the back with extra room to spare. Lassen from our home is all hill climb and lots of stop and go within around the own so the gas mileage suffered a little bit but it wasn't terrible considering the weight of the van. I'd say we averaged 15MPG in this trip.

I'd love to hear how the Solis does in colder conditions (near freezing) since Winnebago markets its great insulation features and four-season capabilities. If you guys take it out for skiing this winter then will be great to see a video of that. Have fun and enjoy your new vehicle!

Hi, I just installed the rear sumo springs only, with one spacer. How many spacers did you install? Is the ride in the 3rd row seats rougher than stock?

Also, did you use the factory jack to raise the van? If so, where is the jack point on the driver's rear? I had to unassembled the gray discharge to reach to jack point. Is this correct?
