@@HenryAndDonna I saw your other video about trying to find a spot at Juniper lake. We used to go there as a backup when the main park was full. I've wanted a campervan for years, but now that I'm getting close to being able to afford it, they're so popular that I wonder if I'll be able to find spots. Was your experience there common? Is it hard to find places to camp?
@HenryAndDonna
@HenryAndDonna 3 жыл бұрын
@@jchrisharris it was full when we got there but it was really late in the afternoon. It's a beautiful around the lake but too far from the park. We were lucky to find a site inside the park for our second night. One of the Rangers told us that since we have a self contained rig we are free to park in the parking lot of the visitor center. I hope that will still be the case once Covid restrictions are all lifted. We wouldn't mind camping agaon at the site we found off the main highway though.

Donna & Henry - excellently comprehensive review. I do have one question though, and it's the age old question all drivers of long distances ask: roughly what MPG do you get with the 2500 model? Thanks again for the extremely positive and pleasant review that included so much detail of the features of the Solis. Safe traveling wherever you go!
@HenryAndDonna
@HenryAndDonna 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching. MPG varies a lot. City/highway, expect around 15/16MPG. On the freeway at about 70MPH, you'll get 17/18MPG. Lots of steep climb, the worse we got was 11/12MPG. If you keep your speed around 65MPH on a long stretch of highway, you may get around 20MPG. Btw, these numbers are based on fully loaded capacity (4-6 people and lots of bags).

One request if you ever get a chance can you please measure the distance (In inches or mm) between the two metal "posts" (the two sticks at the bottom of the removable headrest that insert into the holes on the top of the chairs) of the front seat headrests? Having the hardest time getting that measurement which I need to order an iPad mount for a Solis we'll be renting but can't have access to until we actually start the rental. @HenryAndDonna
@HenryAndDonna 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. There's a heat furnace available for the coach but for the popup, we haven't had any issues yet with the cold weather. Although the coldest we've taken the Solis is only in the upper 10s. Kids say, they're fine with just using sleeping bags. We may get a "noggle" to direct the heat upstairs if we need to. Cooling is also not an issue for us. But if there are options out there to provide extra cooling to the coach and if you are looking to get one of these vans, maybe check the 59PX as that one has a roof A/C built in for the coach area.

great video thank you all, 3 question, 1. what if grey tank full and you still keep using your fresh tank water , overflow ? 2. what is LxHxW cabinet above kitchen ? ( I see no microwave, not sure if I can add a smallest microwave and DIY wiring to a portable inverter under seat , knowing the outlet only work when plug in 3. in the video what is the item small square you plug in above the sink 39:21? I hope to see you how to replace dashboard to Pionner soon , great job and great video :-) jeff
@HenryAndDonna
@HenryAndDonna 3 жыл бұрын
I can answer two questions for you right at the bat. When the grey tank is almost full, water in the sink does not flow down quickly - it gets collected and will slowly drain. I'm sure you''ll get an overflow if it really gets full. You can't use a microwave unless you're plugged in to the shore power. That's the only way the A/C outlets will work. You can't also use an inverter to plugin to the cigarette lighter socket because those sockets are only limited to 180W. As far as I know the lowest wattage microwave you can get is around 900W. One solution is to wire in to the system a big enough wattage inverter to supply power to the A/C outlets. Or you can get a portable inverter station that's at least 1500 watts.

Great overview. How does the ac get to the couch while on the road? Are there vents back there? I’m in Texas, so I’m a tad concerned about no coach ac when camping. Have you learned any tricks to mitigate that? Thanks again.
@HenryAndDonna
@HenryAndDonna 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! The AC comes from the front and the roof vent pushing the hot air out while pulling the cook air from the front. It's a light cool breeze. Living in Texas though you'll need the PX! We have a small fan that mounted under the cabinet that our son uses.

I’ve seen a lot of RV reviews and I have to say that this is one of if not the best I have seen, so I subscribed. Very comprehensive and yet practical. We have similar set up: two adults and two kids ages 7 and 2. Can the jump seats take baby car seats? I was actually sold on the murphy bed set up to give the van a more spacious feel but your demo on your sofa bed gives me something to consider like its an extra 3 seats like maybe for my kid’s friends etc. which brings me to another question: have you used this vehicle as a daily driver or at least for non-camping use? How does this fare in that regard? Keep safe and hope to see you on the road! Maraming salamat.

There's a guy on FB group that has done the AC but uses an inverter as I remember. I'm sure it can be rigged with a gas generator but that's going to require a lot of work for sure.

Thanks Erik. First of, the sofa bed is not available in 59PX. The 59PX uses a longer body with a lot more room in the back.

Isn't the window canvas pretty thin insulation, especially from cold? The black color will make the van hotter.

Actually, the window covers do a pretty good job in keeping the cold air out. We only use it at night when we want full privacy.

WITH THIS RV, WOULD THE TWO OF USE BE ABLE TO GO OUT BOONDOCKING FOR FOUR FULL DAYS, USING A COFFEE MAKER... MICROWAVE (?)... FRIG RUNNING... LIGHTS IN THE EVENING... AND HAVE ENOUGH POWER?.. DURING THE DAY WE MIGHT NOT BE DOING A LOT OF DRIVING... THANKS FOR YOUR HELP... IF WE COULD GO OUT FOR FOUR DAYS, IS IT JUST THE BATTERIES AND SOLAR, THAT WOULD COVER THOSE NEEDS?... THANK YOU AGAIN...

Hi Erik, thanks for watching. To answer your question, if you are using a regular coffee machine that plugs into an AC outlet, then it won't work without being plugged in to a shore power. More so with the microwave. The van doesn't come with an inverter to enable those AC outlets so. you'll need to install one. Second, you need an inverter that can support the wattage of your microwave, which is typically to the north of 1K watts. Hope this helps.

Hi. Unfortunately, there isn't space underneath. The pop-top can hold at least 3 people. Our daughter is 5'4 and weighs 140lb same as my wife and both of them slept up there with our son who is not a lightweight either. The driver and passenger seats swivel and you can get a bed of some sort for another person to sleep on. The area where the table goes is another option. Just bring a sleeping pad.

Last time U mentioned u change the suspension .. how much did it cost and is the van high enough for un even roads.. can the van be lifted higher? wer can u plug a microwave if have one.. thanks
@HenryAndDonna
@HenryAndDonna 3 жыл бұрын
The only suspension upgrade we did was the SumoSprings in the front and back. Is it high enough, it depends on the road but for forest service roads, it's good enough. Although, there are options out there to lift the van. Check OHV, they can lift the van for another 3." To plugin a microwave, you need to be hooked up to a shore power or install an inverter that can support the wattage that you need.

Hello Lubong family! We are Randy & Sharon, The Traveling Kites (kzfaq.info). We found your channel a couple of days ago while searching for Solis videos. We really like your van and it is so great that you are making memories with your family. Your videos are helping us make a list of places to visit in a couple of years when we buy our van and head west. Thank you for sharing and best wishes for many more adventures!

This is wonderfully informative! (I too would be panicking on fresh water supplies). I reached out to Winnebago to inquire why gray water is not used to flush toilets. Seems like a common sense solution to reserve fresh water, doesn't it?

Hello Lubong family. I just purchased a Winnebago Solis 59P. I’ve been following your adventures and have a question. When you travel do you take your dogs? If you do are they kept in the van and is it cool enough for them while you are out exploring? I ask because I have two Pomeranians. Thank you!!

We also bought organizer bins from the Dollar Tree to hold our food supplies. We got the cloth type and they come in different sizes.

How many showers can you get with the (21) gallon water tank? Does the hot water eventually run out, and need time to “recharge” itself?

Hi Mike. As long as the water heater is on, it will get replenished. That time when four of us used the shower, we didn't have a problem with running out of hot water.

@HenryAndDonna
@HenryAndDonna 3 жыл бұрын
The 59P doesn't have a generator to power a microwave and a rear AC. The hottest we've camped in was at a temp of mid to high 90s. We parked under the shade, opened the door and turned the Maxx fan on and it was enough for us. If you're going to be in a state where it really gets dry, hot and humid the 59PX might be a better option. We have a plug in inverter that is good enough to power our Krups coffee grinder and charge our laptops.

Hi many thanks for your advice. We like the layout of the 59P but we may have to in the parking lot as a portable office for work and study, without A/C it will be tough. No point to switch to PX as it needs to run generator for A/C, so it's same as 59P idling the engine for A/C. Stay safe and enjoy your travel 59P! It's still a very camper!

@HenryAndDonna
@HenryAndDonna 3 жыл бұрын
@@chanfamgetaways2706 yes, the 59P doesn't have rear AC. We turn the fan on in the back to help move cooler air back there and we also bought a small fan for our son who sits back there. The hottest temp we've camped in is around high 90's in Kings Canyon last year. We parked in a shaded area and opened all the doors and the fan all and it worked for us. Not sure how the weather is in Socal but here in Norcal the temps drop significantly at night so we don't need AC at night.
