I just stumbled on this channel. PERFECT timing. After 10 years of marriage and 16 years together, we have become roommates and business partners (we have 3 boys and a business together) God has told me to fight for my marriage... so here I am. Going to binge listen to all your vids!

@@sherlsyg1 I highly recommend it, even if it’s for a couple days. My husband is very busy as a Pastor, army chaplain in the reserves and works full time. We have 4 young children and I understand the strain. I’ve found that finding that time away once or twice a year even helps. I would love to do it more often but it’s not always possible and we don’t have family around to just drop the kids off at. Find me on social media, I’d love to chat more! 💕

Thank you for this! It is a caution to all who are married. My husband & I are in a second (me) & third (him) marriage. We are one another's best friend. We deliberately nurture Couple Time in our marriage. We are grateful for love after loss. My husband was a widower when we met. We work hard to have a new start for our marriage after his loss. Blessings to you both for this video! We pray together almost everyday. We pray for others when we pray for ourselves & one another. God is in our marriage! The date night ROCKS in our marriage! I still make him blush! We adore one another. God help us all to nurture our marriages!

I absolutely love marriage today and the naked marriage talk. I have been struggling in my marriage with all of these things as my husband has yet to fully surrender his life to God. My prayer has been for God to create in me a clean heart so that as I grow my husband can see and want the God in me. Plz pray for us Ashley and Dave.

I've been listening for years to a huge list of marriage podcasts and sermons and non-Christian and Christian materials. I think I've benefitted from thousands of materials. I'm about to enter into a marriage and we have a wonderful relationship but practicing these things is still very hard. And I think I've finally figured out what (at least for me) we need in these materials that's missing. We need to see the teachers of these messages to demonstrate what they are teaching. And that's really private, but I feel when people say "you gotta talk about it," I draw a bit of a blank. I need SOMEBODY to come on air and say "okay, we had a fight yesterday and we didn't talk about it yet. We're going to talk about it in front of everyone to show you what we do" That would be TREMENDOUSLY helpful. Aside from that I'm so thankful for you guys for what you already made. Thank you!

My husband has put our relationship on the backburner for YEARS!!! I have been open to him about the serious neglect for ever, I have written letters, cried and cried and poured my heart and soul about how painful this is! He is SO CHECKED OUT, work Is more important, chores are more important, basically anything but us. We have talked/yelled 😢 till I’m blue in the face. I have sent him cards thanking him for things, I go out of my way for little things. However, NOW I RESENT HIM, I don’t find him attractive, the pain and hurt I feel has taken over me 😢 I’m soooo easily satisfied…..I’ve told him, just a simple walk with each other, the intention of having coffee together and not allowing work or phone to be SO IMPORTANT!!! Going for a date, e e tc……. We rarely pray together, he is usually tired when he gets home. I have PRAYED AND PRAYED!!!!!! Most of our kids are now adults, no excuses!!! I’m at a loss.

We did everything together after work with our sons and we shared time and taught them all kinds of things. This was our “date night” every day and we modeled closeness to them and they grew up want the closeness they saw we had. Life is a precious gift and it is made up of time spend together. Share hugs and radiant smiles so you feel loved and so special when you see each other. Thanks for pointing out that it is easy to become so absorbed by things you don’t include each other and drift apart. Remember if you never saw your spouse alive again there are so many things you can never do with them again or say to them and likewise have them share with you. Then the cruel monster regret is there to eat you alive for all the what ifs and i with I had / hadn’t said or done Xxx. This I am glad I didn’t have to experience but most people do so I don’t want you to have that added pain. Loss no matter why is so traumatic and painful. Care for your relationships and grow old as best friends and sweethearts.

Just Subscribed! Also, not sure if you covered it yet, but it would be REALLY amazing to open up the conversation of; Husbands losing their hearts to provision (work) and wives losing their hearts to nurturing (children.) This is honestly an AMAZING function of God's design in marriage, yet oftentimes, unchecked tends to become the predominant negative driving force OF marriage instead of a foundational aspect of it.

Ok so it looks like I've been following this channel for a while. Not sure what makes today any different, but this is literally my 3rd video listening to you guys and I love it. Me and my Husband are coming up on 3 years of marriage, and I must say that it has been challenging but so very worth it. God has brought us together as a unit for a time as this, especially since we both are being used by Him to be the example in our family of how a Godly, overcoming, purposefilled marriage should look like, since we both come from broken, toxic and dysfunctional homes. This channel is amazing and I love the topics you all discuss. I will defenitely be listening/watching more, and look forward to passing along this channel to my other married friends.

Start by thanking your spouse for any little think that is good they do. Go back to touching each other and holding hands and sit next to each other. Snuggle into each other again to but do this reconnecting in steps so it is real not fake. When you have bad days or you just feel so beat up hold each other until you melt into each other. Smile and light up like a candle when you see your spouse with joy to see them, but this may not happen right away, it is a choice. Yes, you may have bad days but the next day is a new day to start fresh so don’t get discouraged. So much is lost that sometimes you can never get back when a relationship is over either by death or divorce ( I think divorce is worse since it leaves all the what if’s to haunt you, death is so final). I speak from being married over 50 years ago with a death to build again for over 42 year marriage and that was build on a friend ship of over 45 years. Live is a precious gift.

I tuned in because your title hit an important issue, and you made several very good points; however (and I say this with all respect), I was very disconcerted by the too frequent talking over each other. I have a hearing problem, Central Auditory Processing Defect, and entire segments of your conversations were blanked out when you did that. And Ashley seemed to dominate the conversation more often. I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. Also, most people are pretty much comfortable enough to be naked around someone and have sex with someone that they have no romantic feelings towards. So sex isn't really a thing about romance. I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner is. Also, you would more likely be much closer to a person who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse. Also, there are a lot of toxic romantic relationships, while there isn't that many toxic platonic relationships. Like an example is that abuse happens a lot in romantic relationships, while abuse is rare in platonic relationships. So there is a lot of abusive romantic relationships, while there is isn't that many abusive platonic relationships. Why do you think abusive romantic relationships have a term for them called "domestic violence", while abusive platonic relationships don't have a term for them? It's because abuse in platonic relationships are very rare, while abuse in romantic relationships happens a lot. And also, a lot of people cheat on their romantic partners with someone else, while most people won't do stuff like that with their platonic best friends. Also, I heard that most people can live a life without romance and can still be happy. But most of the time, if someone doesn't have any platonic friends in their life, it can effect them really bad mentally; much worse than living a life without a romantic partner. In today's world, less people are dating and getting married now, and they seem to be more happy being single rather than being in romantic relationship with someone. Also, You're going to have a much deeper spoken understanding and connection with your best friend than you are with a romantic partner or spouse. So those are other reasons why romantic love isn't real or special, while platonic love is.
@icysnow57cold64
@icysnow57cold64 3 жыл бұрын
And also, it seems that fathers usually hate it whenever their daughter gets a boyfriend (even if the boyfriend is a good guy), and it seems that they often hate the idea of their daughter dating, and many fathers seem against the idea of their daughters dating. There are even shirts made for daughters that say "I'M NOT ALLOWED TO EVER DATE" and shirts made for fathers that say "DADS AGAINST DAUGHTERS DATING". Brothers also tend to act the same way that fathers do whenever their sister gets a boyfriend (even if the boyfriend is a good guy). It seems brothers (like fathers) hate the idea of their sisters dating. So it seems that most fathers don't ever want their daughters to find love and be in a romantic relationship with someone, and it also seems that most brothers don't ever want their sisters to find love and be in a romantic relationship with someone. So those could also be other reasons why the concept of romantic relationships isn't a good thing because of how protective fathers and brothers tend to be whenever their daughter or sister dates someone.
