I went on a foreign exchange to Sweden my senior year of high school. My host father took me with him on a moose hunt up north. Incredible experience and some truly beautiful country

I really feel a epic environment like that makes for a hunting video. Hunting close to a heavy trafficked road only reminds me that its just temporary and that another work week is around the comer in the wilderness you live in the moment every moment.

Ive never killed anything or hunted yet, but I loved this video. It was also amazing to see the helicopter lift the moose with the rope slings through the tendons. Cant wait to start shooting once I get accepted in my local club.

That was an easy way to get a moose out. 20 km on an ATW the last time I hunted moose. Really great video. I felt I was there 🙂

Was all a bit too exciting I'm afraid - the shotkam needs "waking up" to ensure it captures the moment and in the heat of the moment other things take over - there was some range footage.

@@fieldsportstv Aha! Now you got some idea how hard it is to film with a shotkam every week on ground game. Not easy is it and boy do i get a bollocking for missing because I was trying to get it out of sleep mode ;) !

just think if or when you harvest a mature bull worth taking out , one that is past his prime you will see what a huge animal actually is ;)

Nice video. This is much different than hunting wild areas of the western USA where im from. This is more of a relaxing resort. Still i enjoyed this and thanks for mercy killing the injured cow moose. I like hunting but at the same time i hate seeing animals painfully injured. Here in the states we are getting too many predators and our game has suffered

9:18 just to clarify it's not "gruhound" in Sweden it's "gråhund" in English "greyhound" but the real name is "Norwegian elk hound"

When to much of computers and helicopters gets involved in HUNTING, then it's not hunting anymore, in my opinion. The guy just shot a moose, and didn't even break a sweat...

Hunting moose in Sweden is population control. That is also why bow hunting and such is illegal. The hunting is not supposed to be for the enjoyment of the hunter.

i dont know if i like the dog hunting big game , i figure when targeting game like moose its easy to pick the males by calling that way your not harassing cows n calfs . you can tell i grew up in states where we have strict rules like no hunt the day you fly on or no dog hunting big game no bait or salt licks .... all of these things make a hunter use his skills and gain better technique . anyways good job on harvesting the wounded cow , now what was done with its meat ? if gnf here take animals down or confiscate game they hand out to people on list they have maybe disabled or needy people. for the bull well not much of a rack year or two maybe .. not legal where we hunt but tastes great and fills up the freezer ;)

if we would hunt moose in sweden like you do in america and only kill mature bulls and not cows, young bulls and calfs we would not be abel to keep the population of moose at an reasonable level. we shoot about 80 000 moose in sweden and in alaska only 7000. so you see we have to be more efficent to get the required results or else there will be moose everywhere. swedish hunters are just as good at hunting american hunters...we just do it in a different way. as in most things you need to experiance it first hand to really know how it is and even with a good dog it still is not easy because so many things can happen. i hope you come here and see for yourself.

I can see what you mean with hunting the day you fly, but most swedes obviously don't do this and our rules are very strict about motor vehicles and hunting. For example you can't even carry a rifle on a quad bike, and your rifle needs to be unloaded if you transport it in the car. The dog I don't agree with though, the elk/moose is not afraid of the dog and they don't try to chase the animal like a hog hound for example, they just bay at it for the hunter to find them. Many times you can see the moose standing there eating just kind of looking at the dog.

Mighty SAD such laziness has set in to genetics, ...on a mere 14000 acres bumbs must be flown to hunt moose....a DAMN shame....get off your ass & hike, walk, hunt & camp!!

So using a heli is not something ordinary hunters in Sweden use :P
