I have a coolant leak in my 2018 Ram. I said some very bad words, but I am excited about fixing this myself. I think it is just a hose, but I got a bunch of tools awhile back and wouldn’t be too upset if I had to dig a little deeper.

2 years later. I’m the owner of a 2000 Ram. I just replaced the cooling system in it at 200k. I liked your video but I guess I look at things a little different than you. It’s all good. My radiator became restricted and I had to replace it. I ordered a new aluminum radiator, a 3 core instead of the standard 2 core. After I removed the radiator I started looking around and decided to replace the entire cooling system. I was part of the way there but it’s a lot of work replacing anything on the 5.9. New water pump, radiator, hoses, t-stat, and one other thing that I didn’t think about. The heater coil which happens to be located behind the dash. Yeah, I had to remove the entire dash to access it. It took me like forever to get started on that part. I probably put 18hrs on that part alone. Since I had the dash out I couldn’t bring myself to leave the evaporator coil for the ac, knowing what was involved in replacing it. So I removed the box that housed everything and replaced all of it. There is an upgrade for it. Put a new accumulator in the ac system, new screen and metering device, vacuum and charged it. After everything that I went through it appears that everything is working well. I didn’t see what you added to your coolant, if you mixed it with water, tap water, you should drain your system and refill it. The tap water has minerals in it that will create something like barnacles in your water ways. You have to use distilled water if you mix. Don’t use the 50/50 mix that you can buy either unless it reads mixed with distilled water. I just use the concentrate and don’t add any water. Coolant used to be called anti freeze. It was much heavier than what we buy now and required mixing. Today’s coolants are pretty thin so I don’t mix. And you shouldn’t use tap water in your battery either. We ran straight water sometimes in our cars when I was young. You would freeze up in the winter but would thaw out after the water pump screamed for a minute or two. I just had my manifold intake plate and gaskets replaced over the weekend and that hose was in the kit so I went ahead and replaced it. Well, turns out I have to replace that hose as the hose was defective and has a pinhole leak.

Pro tip all rubber coolant hoses I applie di eltric greese to the inside of the rubber allows for easy install and removal...

that's not tha a/c condenser, it's the compressor,the condenser is in front of the radiator

your lucky its just the hose my leak is on the part behind the water pump, have no idea what its called or how to pull it so im just scrolling through these videos of broken dodges

I started to notice my 2005 ram 1500 needed coolant and today my dad noticed it was leaking so when I went to look I pretty much traced it all the way back to that hose I didn’t take anything out but this video really helped me to know what need replacing. But could you tell me what that hose was called or what to ask for when I do take ever apart

Cutting your brand new hose hose is not a good idea. 😕 So many other things you could do that don't risk ruining i Like you could lube it up with water. You could soften it by getting it hot at the end. I just put a new one of these 5.9 in my 03 Dakota. It's really not that difficult to require all that and mutilating your new hose.
