A megathrust quake combined with the sky high bloated real estate bubble would be the one of the costliest natural disasters in human history and could brick the Canadian economy for decades. Probably in the quarter to half a trillion dollars mark and that is assuming half the houses to be rebuilt or majorly repaired and does not count infrastructure and non-residential properties.
