Hi Luc170867, great comment... although I don't know about "a couple hours", ours was like weeks and months even if you count the mods we did :) We really enjoyed putting the unit together, and there is nothing like getting your SRS Settings just how you like them for the ultimate movement (especially when using VR). I think you make a great point that you don't just pull it out of the box, plug it in and go... you have to spend some time with it if you want to get the most out of it.

I am having huge issues with their customer support right now. I cannot seem to get a suitable answer to a control box that will not respond to upgrading firmware. The response is a canned bot response of “update firmware”… English speaking customer service help would be a huge improvement.

@@YMSimRacingwell I don't have a H3 but interesting enough Jeff Weaver (the SRS Tuning Wizard) and I got into this topic on one of my livestreams. I think this video might help answer your question kzfaq.info/get/bejne/otmAlcWKqt-dZac.html What I can tell you is you do not need a P series anymore with the new SFU gearboxes unless you plan to put it into an arcade or something where it is running 8 hours a day, so it would be a H3 vs. a H6. It really comes down to your budget and what you are planning to do with it mostly (flying vs. racing). More axis is always better, so if you can afford the H6, that is what I'd recommend. If not, get the H3 and you can always upgrade later to the H6. Remember to use the code GYGO for 5% off too. If you have any other questions, please let me know and I'll do my best to answer.

Hi zmbob, so glad I could help. I'm not sure the new brake is going to just bolt on, I think it will require quite a bit of rework on the base (similar to when we did the SFU upgrade). Either that or it might even be easier if we can buy the completed new base and then swap it out instead of each motor. Right now Igor said they were still working on upgrade paths so we will have to wait and see what they come up with. At least there is a solution now so that is a good thing. The other thing, not sure if you heard this part, but they are working on covers too so that would probably also be a good thing for your use case. @@GYGOtv Turn key solution as far as the vibrator kit being a complete package yes, but as a kit the buyer has to put together and mount. There are already good solutions for this but my other 2 suggestions are more needed imo. I suppose you are referring to the tensionR that costs a bit more than 1000 dollars if I remember correctly. A spare h-motor from dofreality costs 150 dollars and I will personally make a DIY belt tension system myself but I'm sure dofreality could make a product similar to my plans for 1/3 of the price of the pt actuator solution you mentioned. (Only difference pt actuators solution pulls both sides of your belt individually while I had both sides being pulled in sync in mind to make it less complex)

@@artursjoblom5142yes I'm sure you could do it more affordably too. I've never used one, but one thing Jeff Weaver mentioned as his favorite effect was when one belt tightened going into a turn, it really imitated the g-force for the corner. You might want 2 motors to make that work and get the same results.

@@GYGOtv Exactly! This is a game changer imo since it simulates sustained g forces. I'm thinking then perhaps if dofreality introduces a 3rd motor for 50-100 dollars with a shaft that spins and pulls on your belt, perhaps a single motor consumer version and a dual motor pro version. Another idea with a similar effect is to make this a mechanical solution without motors, I'm going to experiment with this myself. Wires attached to the solid base of the h2-h3 with a lot of thought behind the angles and leverage to then attach to your belt and simulate sustained g forces while braking and turning. I'm sure there are creative ways to simulate sustained motion besides this tension method, increasing the perceived motion of the platform while in a flight sim for example.

@@artursjoblom5142excited to hear what you come up with. Remember you will need some type of control box to talk to the SRS software which then talks to the game telemetry (well actually the opposite, but you get my point).

Hi endre1010, great question that we will add to the list. In a nutshell, what I can tell you is most other motion platforms use actuators and stepper motors instead of the gearbox/motor design that DOF Reality uses. The advantage is they are super smooth in all range of motion BUT that comes at about twice the price. All platfroms can have different ranges of motion, but the big thing is the number of degree's of freedom. If you haven't watched some of my other videos, let me recommend you look at why I choose DOF Reality kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j6poeql21drZhJ8.html which is a bit older and prices have certainly gone up across the board since making it, but it what it talk about is still relative in that one. Yes that's always seems to be the case, and at least we now know that DOF Reality is on a 6-month production cycle so we can just expect these to kind of be like video cards, there's always going to be something bigger better right around the corner. Hi Likes2fish... sorry for the delay, I didn't see this comment come in. So you have the lighthouse faceplate for the Crystal right? They won't work without it. I had a similar problem when I got my faceplate and it was a problem with the faceplate itself. You might have got a defective one as well. I'd recommend reaching out to Pimax and ask for a replacement faceplate to start. As for the eye calibration, is it giving you an up or down prompt in the headset? You have to get it just right for it to work. Please let me know and I'll see if I can help more.

Hi Motelghost, As I'm sure you saw, we discussed distribution with DOF Reality at 40:31. The issue is any distributor wants like 40% so that motion platform would cost you a lot more "to get direct from the UK", so if your reasoning is that it would be cheaper that way, I don't think that is the case. They ship all over the world so I wouldn't let it not being direct stop you if you are really interested. Thanks for watching.

Hi Thezuule1, unfortunately DOF Reality and Sim Racing Studio don't really have any control over if a game puts telemetry in or not. Fortunately there is a joystick emulation feature in SRS if you have a premium subscription. That allows the rig to move based on joystick inputs. It only works for Pitch, Roll and Yaw (so perfect for H3) but adds movement to games that otherwise don't have any telemetry. I use it for Star Wars Squadrons and it works pretty good. Also, just FYI, DOF Reality has what is called a "Magic Box" which allows a motion platform to work with consoles like Playstation and Xbox. Hopefully one of those options will help with the limited content you are seeing. Thanks for the comment.

I agree the setup instructions from the company itself could be better, BUT you have an amazing facebook community (DOFRealityBuilders) that IMO is a far better resource than you will find from any other motion sim. it's over 10k strong and they respond quicker to questions than most other company's Customer Service departments do. I also know DOF takes good care if it's customers if there is an issue with a part or something, so the company does stand behind the product. I get the concerns you have, but at half the cost I still think it is the best value in the marketplace. Thanks for watching.

I just bought a h3 2 weeks ago and I got it working the same day I got it, I also was a bit skeptical at first but i just activated licence, installed sim racing studio and it worked 😀👌

I had to look high and low for my replacement strut when I blew mine out because DOF was out of stock. They did make it right once they had more but I didn't want to be down for that long so I eventually found one that worked. Glad they at least helped you with your issues.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Yaw 2 experience. Nothing to be embarrassed about, I was also interested in that platform once they got the heave module finished... I guess that is unlikely now huh? Anyway, the H2 does not come with the SFU Gearboxes standard but you can upgrade for $150 per motor... so an extra $300, which I HIGHLY recommend you do. Hi Richard, we have been talking a lot lately :) I think with the new digital encoders it might help so you would need that and the new control boxes for sure. It gives more resolution so theoretically it could smooth it out that way. Finger's crossed!

@@GYGOtvI messaged customer service about upgrading my P3 from Jan to the new self aligning encoders and specifically referred to this video about the new e-brake. Plus the new stuff to fix the flight issues. Was told it would be crazy expensive and would basically have to buy a new P3 to get the latest fixes.

@@docbart394 ya, I didn't think it would be cheap but the fact it is even possible is a step in the right direction. Maybe think of it like a car... New model comes out with new options so you sell your old one and buy the new model?

Your welcome, IMO, the only way I see to get rid of the jutter is you need actuators, and they cost twice as much. Not sure you're going to be able to get rid of all the jutter without them. But that's just me talking, not DOF.

Hi JanStrojil, boy can I understand where you are coming from! I felt the same way when I was thinking about buying one... I thought to myself, "That is a lot of money and what if I don't like it". Well I can tell you it is one of the absolute BEST purchases I've ever made, I LOVE IT and have zero buyer's remorse. Also the DOF Reality is the best value out there for motion platforms in my opinion and to top it all off you can always upgrade an H3 to an H6 down the road if you want. From my understanding, you can upgrade it just cost a lot because you need to replace those items to get it to work. Maybe development for the H3 isn't done yet as I know they focused on the P3 but it sounded like at some point it should be possible to upgrade. I'd just keep reaching out to DOF Reality from time to time to see where they stand. And Yes this was a real interview!

Another great question, I'll add it to the list for our next broadcast. Officially I don't know, but from our tests we were getting around 18 to 19 in the stock configuration with the SFUs.

For me personally, I love the heave when landing (you feel it hit the deck or ground) and I can really feel the surge when I hit the Afterburner. I think you do give up a little in the max roll and pitch however. I'd love to hear from others who have done the upgrade.

@@GYGOtv I remember seeing someone taking about simulating heave and Surge within the software and the other axes on the P3, I think you would still get some feeling on landing with the P3 if I understood correctly, by the way I’m a new follower to your channel and I love it!

@@evanphotography5149So the last I heard on this was that DOF Reality was "aware" of the mod, but that was the last update I got from rnlcomp on that. Just FYI, I have everything in place to swap my H6 over to the mod (rnlcomp even provided me with his custom 3D printed flanges, which was my missing piece). I've been filming my unit in operation in it's current state for reference, then we will switch it over and do a side by side, including noise, speed etc. Stay tuned, this content is coming after we get some time on the mod just to make sure everything is working well and the 3D Flanges are holding up on a H6.

Just checked with Jeff and he said Simhub does not currently work with DOF Platforms. Just FYI, SRS is much easier software to use so I wouldn't let that stop you from getting a DOF Rig. I'm assuming you already are familiar with Simhub and that is why you want to use it, but SRS is really good too. Also, you don't really need to spend the extra money on the P3 unless you plan to use the rig in an arcade setting where it is running 8 hours straight everyday. You could take that money and put it towards an H6 and get those extra movement axis. Hope that helps, and don't forget to use our code listed in our latest DOF Reality videos to save 5%.

Thanks for the question nashfan1000, I think the SFU gearboxes are and optional upgrade on the H series... but check the website for the latest info. I would HIGHLY recommend getting the SFU gears with any H2 or H3 purchase!

Hi bigshaq, do you also have a PC or just the Xbox one X?

I just heard back from DOF Reality on this question, "MagicBox works with any console and games sending out telemetry over UDP Now only few games, such as Grand Turismo 7 and Sport, PCARs, PCARs2, F1, Forza Motorsport 7, Forza Horizon 5 send motion data from consoles (UDP over network)." SO it doesn't sound like MSFS actually sends out telemetry on console, so probably wont work. I can tell you, MSFS in VR is worth the investment in a PC if you are into flight. I know its expensive, but the experience is so much better than on flat screen. Hope this answers the question.

@@GYGOtv Oh, thank you very much. Yes, it does answer it well, but I didn’t think about VR for flight sim yet. Great idea indeed but my eyes do hurt pretty quick after wearing VR equipment.. Until now I thought about purchasing the mover + xbox + Samsung odyssey neo.. if I buy a solid pc, I‘ll have to wait a few months to afford the motion platform. Let’s see :)

Contacted DOF and to enable power-off parking on a H6 requires 6 new motors and 2 new control boxes. Think I'll improve the mechanical solution I have created. I'm using a couple of chains at the moment but will fit 3 turnbuckles to the wall to fix it in park position.

Remember they also have to pay shipping to get the raw materials for the rigs so that all has to go into the price as well. DOF Reality REALLY tries to keep the pricing as low as possible for the customer, and I don't know if you've looked at other manufactures, but the DOF Rig is easily half of what any other platform would cost. So are you planning to use this for flight or racing?

@@kevincaruthers5412 Awesome, I love flying in mine. Hold off ordering an H6 for just a bit. DOF Reality is working on a new gearbox that will smooth out slower motions on the simulator. Right now some people really hate a "Cogging" issue that the current design has (you can watch other videos on my channel if you want to know more kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7p8h9ygsaiRoX0.html ) We should hear something more about the new design in June at Flight Sim Expo. I would just hate for you to buy one now, and in a few months there is a better design for flight sim. Let me know if you have any other questions about all this great stuff, it is awesome!

Hi ricardograde, the movement "telemetry" comes from the games so the motion sim can only do what it is told. You can adjust the movement intensity with the software but not completely change the data coming from the game. Keep in mind, the motion isn't designed to mimic the exact movement of real aircraft, it is designed to make you feel like you are having that experience. I can tell you it feels pretty good to me, but maybe a motion rig won't feel right to you. You'd have to try one yourself to see. Thanks for the question.

@@GYGOtv hello. I understand your explanation in the perspective of a game, but in a simulation definably not!!! I understand the Motion Rig is really important for the immersion, but really makes no sense to move if you are doing a good coordinated turn. I am a Pilot for real, and you can feel if you are doing a good coordination just by the movement of the aircraft. You can feel it in your body. If the motion rig moves in a perfect coordinate turn, then is just bad telemetry!!!! Is exactly the same if you turn a car to the right and the rig banks also to the right..!!!! Do you understand what I am saying? The motion rig should only bank back because the G forces raises if you keep level flight. You just don’t fall in a turn… that is bad flying!!! Or bad telemetry.

@@ricardograde5134So maybe motion platforms aren't for you? There are several "real" pilots that seem to enjoy the motion so I don't know what to say. Maybe higher end sims get it right, I really don't know as I'm not a real pilot. Appreciate your feedback, but I don't think it is anything DOF Reality can help you with. Sorry.

@@GYGOtv hello. Thank you for your answers. You did explain a lot to make me understand where the problem is. I don’t have one yet, but I did try it… and is really weird, you feel you are doing something wrong and fighting with the rig. This should be corrected and not saying is not DOF problem. In some way should be a discussion between MSFS, DOF and users!!! Just saying! Hope my input could help to make a better and more real experience of flight sim!!! That is only my goal. Keep up the good work 👍

I had (or still have) the same concern, and contacted DOF about it. They answered that their motion platforms just perform motion. Any motion. It’s middleware that tells the motion platform how to move. So I guess, your question - and mine - must go to SimRacing Studios. They make the program that receives telemetry data from the flightsim, crunches that data and feeds output data into the motion platform…

Hi Bigpopp1, with the SFU drives it should handle the weight as long as you can get it to fit on the mount.

Hi mikehaertsch, Interesting... quick question would you be willing to pay twice the price for an actuator based rig? That is the big reason they haven't done that from what I understand.

Interesting GYGO TV suppress my comment about the fact that a steward like 6 linear actuators like the one I found on MYSIMKIT is much better in motion ranges more stable (no balance to do) and the same price of a P6….do you fear competitors or are you interested in DOF business ?

@@jayphi4095 Hi jayphi4095... I don't suppress anything on here but if you try to put links and stuff KZfaq seems like it will do it automatically. Hell even Jeff Weaver has been "autoblocked" before. I laugh at your statement about fearing competitors because I don't work for DOF so why would I suppress your comment anyway, I do wish you would be more civil in your tone however. SO I don't know much about MYSIMKIT, but what I do see is that is "under 10,000 euros" and IS A KIT (as the name implies). It contains a LOT of 3D-Printed Parts, etc. Just FYI... you can always do a DIY solution that will likely be cheaper... but that is like comparing a kit car to a production model. Anyway, I'll see if Jeff can respond to this since he knows way more about it than I do.

Sorry and I apologize if you’ve considered been hurt by my second comment but please consider how I was surprised discovering that my first one had just disappeared…..difficult for me imagining it was just a YT action….as comments are usually used to give opinions in pro or con…. I just found that @mikeaertch question was valid, as a sim fan and professional engineer interested to buy a motion platform, I made an extensive overall survey from several months both on tech, soft and on prices and on several numbers of DOF devices including DOFR, Motion systems Poland, QUBIC, NLR, Dbox, Simrig, etc….exchanging directly with the companies and comparing data and prices and sorry about that your answer is not right, the price of a P6 or H6 in Europe is just under 10k€ including VAT and this price is mostly obtained by declaring a price that is not the selling one (1800USD for a H6 for example) and considering options like SFU like spare part with no VAT at all. VAT amount is around 20% in Europe and that make a big difference between with and without VAT. This was not invented by me but explained to me by mail by DOFR people when I expressed my surprise about the VAT amount very low. Ok it’s a good trick if I can pay less but everybody must play with the same rules….and compare also point by point quality of elements like presence or absence of brakes in motors, couple of motors, 8´or 32 bits controllers etc….that impact prices differences…specially when you make a survey or a comparison of products For the comparison between a « kit » car and a production model I could say that DOFR is a kit car compared for example to a NLR or motion system device (I’m not speaking about price or perfo ). For me a product delivered in separated pieces that you have to assembly yourself and then trim and adjust moreover if the software is delivered by another company is a « kit «. Only differences with other « DIY » kit products is that DOFR company gather itself pieces from different origins, as they say themselves, to then ship everything while in « DIY kit » you receive full detailed tuto video and a manual as well as a detailed list of pieces, among them a lot are directly sent to you by the seller and some have to be bought by yourself as a dedicated bundle prepared for the seller by mechanics shops… About the performances I admit that a 6 DOF linear actuators based has a wider footprint that other design with motors and levers. However it has a very much smoother behavior particularly in small evolutions as it seems you speak about in your video …and a much lower noise. I will not speak about motion range values that could also be very different and are inherent to the design concept. Hope having being constructive ….

Thanks for the comment lawerancelanham. That is interesting, I've never experienced that... usually whenever there is a problem, replacement parts go out asap from what I've seen. I suppose you would likely get the same from other companies after the warranty expires, it would just be good to know that up front. Feel free to give me more details about what happened if you want me to ask Igor about it.

​@GYGOtv yeah? Well I've also had an issue with the SFU upgrade and as it had failed, they won't honor anything with it either. IT.. isn't out of warranty as it was purchased much later.
