All of your kids who lived on the boat can qualify for a US Coast guard Captain license for at least 50ton with the time and experience they have had on Zatara. They would need to take a registered course online and schedule a test to pass then submit the paperwork for the license. I used a school out of key west and it was amazing and passed on my first try. Strongly recommend it for everyone.

Keith this is Greg, Lauren's husband. That alignment sure brought back a lot of memories. I worked on locomotives 15 years ago and we would pull the engine, EMD or GE and rebuild them then have to do an alignment. Our alignment had to be within .0025 on all 4 sections of the couplers. Sometimes it could be done in a day. Several times it took a week of 12 hours shifts to get it aligned.

I was staying in the keys a few years ago and came across the History of Diving museum. I'm a lifelong avid diver so took the time to check it out. I was so blown away by how great the collection is and how well displayed & contextualized it was in the tour following the timeline of diving. Judging from the outside I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, it's fairly nondescript and on an isolated bit of the highway, but was such a wonderful surprise once I got inside. I even went back a second time since I was staying for an extended period. It really is a fun educational gem in that part of the keys, I highly recommend to anyone with an interest in diving, history, or just a love of the ocean to check it out, and I'm sure kids would really enjoy it. Thank you Renee for including it this week's video! It deserves the love :)

Watching Keith for a few years now, repairing everything on Zatara, is educational & enjoyable over here. I think I can see Keith's oil and gas days when Keith (you) does/do all this maintaining of the various systems.. Great edu for blue water cruisers. Like to technical descriptions. Love the details! Do intend to continue watching you all as your family changes. Also watch Cruising Kiwis whom I found through this channel, and their life drama & challenges. Anyway, hey I really enjoy to hoodie I bought form Finn. Renee I think it is terrific you appear in curlers. Very down home. Thanks, Los Angeles

Your patience is paying off. Keith, you are so knowledgeable that those installing the engines can't try to slide on any issue. Good for you and thank goodness you are where you are in life to keep people honest. You want it done right so there are very few problems in the future, and it takes time to do that, and you are doing that. Renee, it would also drive me nuts with all the dust and dirt. My condo was destroyed by outside rain and broken water pipes, so I ended up living in a construction zone myself for over 6 months, I'm a neat freak too, so my heart goes out to you living with the dust, dirt, and chaos. Hang in there, it looks like it will be over soon, and you will be back to living your adventures once more.

If worst comes to worst, he can always say he’s her husband, they have the same address and last name on their driver’s license Me and my sister both have blond hair and blue eyes. You can tell we are siblings In grad school, we were roomates For sone reason, everyone thought she was my wife in our apartment complex I got so tired of telling people she is my sister that I just acknowledged she is my wife because it was less time consuming. It would always turn into a conversation if I had to correct everyone and say was my sister, normally I was in a rush It got awkward one time when someone started telling me how beautiful my wife is…and I had to tell her she is my sister because that was about to be real awkward if I acknowledged that I had a hot wife Anyway, it did dawn on me that if something bad happened to her in an emergency situation that it would be easier to just tell the doctors at the hospital that I was her husband and to perform whatever emergency procedure is necessary versus having to wait a few extra minutes to wake my parents up to get the same answer Now that she has a husband, he can do the honors but in an emergency situation, you got to do what you got to do to get R done

I LOVE Key West!! Well to be honest i love all of Florida, and I'm Canadian! My son and i took a two week road trip from Ontario Canada all the way to Key west Florida and back. After spending a few days in the smokie mountains we spent a week of that trip traveling all over Florida. We drove the entire pan handle, spend two days in Orlando, spent some time in the everglades, swam at Daytona beach, West palm beach, and Bradenton beach, went to Universal studios Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando. We only spent one day and one night in Key West and i regretted not staying a few days longer. I loved the wild chickens running around all over the place. What an incredible place Florida is.

Just off the coast of Sebastian is where Mel first found the treasure of the 1715 Spanish galleon fleet that sunk during a hurricane. He has a very interesting museum in my little town as well. They have expanded the search down to Key West and have found other Spanish galleon wrecks there. Mel passed away in 1998, but his daughter, Taffi, runs the Treasure Museum in Sebastian.

My Dad took me sailing in Key West 44 years ago when I was a long haired little rebellious tweenager. We're Canadians and had no medical insurance in the United States. I thought I was going down to Florida to to hang out in Miami and was super excited but found out when we got there we were going sailing instead. I was devastated. The first day on the boat I got a concussion getting hit on the head by the boom. I was terrible at sailing initially. I was vomiting and sick before we even left the marina but it was a different era, we just continued out into the Gulf of Mexico, no hospital bills, and I "recovered" while sailing. Despite a miserable start I'll never forget dolphins chasing the front of the boat, looking up at us making eye contact. Portuguese Man-o-Wars as far as the eye could see with so many tangled in our ladders, the strange peaceful feeling of dead calm waters as well as storms grounding us and my sister and I getting our keel off the bottom by dragging us out with the anchor, getting repairs done, sea turtles, adventures in Key West. Taking all my spending money for the day in Key West and spending it on a bacon and champagne breakfast in some hotel, not having a clue as a 13 year old that it would be more than a couple of bucks. My Dad has since passed away and we've sold his 25 foot mono-hull that he sailed until he was 87 years old! His love of sailing opened up the world for my sister and I. Since that sailing trip I've lived in over 22 countries ( but not by boat ) and travel is now burned into my blood. I rarely spend more than 3 months in the same country. So thanks to my dear old Dad and thanks to you guys for sharing your lives with your awesome family on your beautiful boat. Every episode is like traveling to a new location and each one is a bit like going home for me.

I was in high school, still dreaming about getting certified, when Mel found the treasure. I was glued to the screen and the following documentaries. Finding treasure is every kid's dream (at least was mine). Jack was lucky with just two. I had all 4 removed and was mad at my best friend who didn't have any wisdom teeth. All healed quickly with no issues - enjoy Tonga, Jack! Donate for a Dream

The History of Diving Museum is a GREAT little museum and is very worthwhile. Just down the road is Lazy Days on Islamorada. It’s a great restaurant right on the water - I had the best and most memorable lunch I’ve ever had there. Also, when going to the Keys, before you get on the Overseas Highway, stop at Robert Is Here at Florida City - it’s a super-sized fruit stand that serves the BEST milkshakes in the world! And while in Key West, if you visit the museum, DO NOT make Robert The Doll angry.

Make certain to replace fuel lines and don't use old lines again, during the exchange of your engine with a new one it may have been stepped on many times, and no one notices. As a lifelong marine diesel mechanic on Alaska commercial fishing boats, I have seen owners reusing old fuel lines that ruptured during break-in periods and caught fire.

I'm glad he got conscious sedation. There's no way I could get a tooth pulled without that.

I see you visited the Treasure exhibit. My mom was a Master Diver in Ft. Lauderdale and she actually got to dive on the Atocha with the family that found it. I wish she had told me where it was before she passed but she never would tell anyone.

In the many years I’ve been watching, I’ve been seeing the day coming where the kids go their way. I am happy for them, and sort of identify with the sad part of it because my own kids are at that age too. You all are so brave and live your zestful life in a way that inspires so many! God bless this next journey! I can say, “Jack speak caveman!” (Think Meet the Parents)
