Having been billed as the most wild and open driver’s market for years, 2024’s silly season has gone surprisingly quiet. Since Sergio Perez got a contract extension on the 9th of June, not a lot has happened. With that top seat shut off, many people thought there would be a flurry of announcements as every driver realised that a space at one of the top teams on the grid was off the table. Instead, Carlos Sainz has become the trigger for the drivers market with every team seeming to leave a space open just in case they can tempt him to join them for 2025. Thankfully, the Austrian Grand Prix has featured a flurry of activity and today I’ll fill you in on all the movements, some more shocking than others, so don’t go anywhere.
