There are two ways to reach Makalidurga. One option involves walking from Makalidurga Railway Station, while the other involves driving to a parking lot and then crossing the railway lines to start from Muthurayaswamy temple.
If you choose the first option, your journey begins with a flat walk alongside the railway lines until you reach Muthurayaswamy temple. The second part of the trail is from the temple to Rest Point I. This section involves a gradual ascent over muddy and rocky terrain, becoming steeper as you approach Rest Point I.
For the second option, the initial part of the trail starts from the temple. The final stretch in both options is a moderately steep climb on granite rock leading to the summit.
