Honestly, if you think about it, it would have made more since if it was swapped, i.e. Mordecai says "somepony" and Twi says "somebody", since Twi is a pony, thus she is "somepony" he used to know, which Mordecai is not a pony, and thus he's "somebody" she used to know.

3:35 In the original music video, the paint vanishing from the woman's body symbolized her no longer being a part of the guy's life. Here, the paint had been covering her cutie mark (the symbol of her entire character, personality, and fate), and it gets uncovered when she leaves. This shitpost added another layer of depth to the music video, and I fucking hate it.

notice how only twilight says "somepony" this is a term the ponies typically only use for other ponies as a sign of respect over other races. perhaps this means she still does hold some form of love for mordecai, or alternatively, it symbolizes greater that she doesn't even know him anymore. the person she used to love is gone

I know of other MLP/RS fics (that were made pre-2021 and aren't satire/ironic), but AFAIK those authors never made anything else involving that crossover, and most of them were abandoned anyway; there's the other "crack treated seriously" fics too (from 2020 and 2021), but they're all discontinued too and it seems like the authors don't want any more to do with them.

@ThrackerZ0d I am that author the previous comment has mentioned. I have two ongoing stories that I am writing myself. One was written back in 2012. I never completed it just yet since I was going to college, and now that I have graduated, I intend on finishing my story. I did a massive overhaul on my project "Friendship, Disharmony & Sonic," I saw too many mistakes from when I first wrote it and I corrected every single one of them and I have reached the climax of the story with two chapters to wrap it up. My other project is called, "MordeTwi: Wedding." It's based from Cartunelover16's Chaotic Order, but I am righting the wrong of that story and giving Mordecai and Twilight the happy ending they deserve. Give them a read and tell me what you think about them.

This song is almost 12 Years old... and we get a one-to-one duplicate of it from 2 animated characters that were shipped together randomly. First Gotye and Kimbra was the people we used to know, and the former disappeared of the face of the earth. Now, I think it's safe to say that these two have fallen into the same category, but not in the same way. Regardless, this is an animated masterpiece. Kudos!

If you're curious: the name of the fanfiction that started MordeTwi is _Earthworm Zim._ Note, however, that the fic (and the writer) did not ship Mordecai and Twilight; the two characters just had a really nice interaction together, and that inspired fans of the fic to ship them.

@drakenstarcross1347 well the original song is about a man talking about his old girlfriend, about how she cut him off completely and he thinks she didn't need to do that. But once it switches to the girlfriend's pov, we see that he was actually not a very good partner and that she might've been justified. Perhaps neither of them is in the right, really. It actually opens up a really interesting discussion and it's a very complex and unique dynamic in a song, which is usually about straightforward things like "I love you and you love me back" or "I don't like you so we're breaking up"

The reason is fucking hilarious--it's because he used an AI-based voice changer, and he needed appropriate samples. Fortunately for him, Twilight has been in countless musical episodes and what, a couple movies? It sounds good because *it's sampling from a goddamn wealth of information*.
