Make 1 Left (M1L) Increase For Knitting, Cast On Version

This video demonstrates how to do a cast on version of a make 1 left increase (M1L). It is a great increase to use when you want to maintain a very even tension in your knitting, and working a traditional make 1 increase (where you pick up the strand of yarn between your just and next-to-be-worked stitches) would tighten your fabric. The decrease is directional, meaning it appears to lean to the left of your work.

You're welcome! As I mention in the video, you don't have to knit it through the back loop BUT if you work your cast on M1R's through the front loop, it'll then match up the 2 increases perfectly! :)

Thank you so much! I watched so many m1 videos but none of them made sense for my pattern. I didn’t have a bar to do an m1 with because I was joining 2 pieces of work together. The pattern wants an m1 right before the join.
