You should try creating a 1G1R with this method and see how it compares to the 1G1R you made manually. I'd be interested to know if there were any key differences...

@@RetroCrisis there was only one difference, all the multi game in one pack which contains game available as standalone wasn't there. So, I guess my collection is even more trimmed than 1g1r collection. But if I had 1g1r collection in hand I still would have saved a lot of time.

@omgitsbats Bro where's the EmulationStation tool you were working on to hide ROMs instead of deleting them? Now that ES-DE is available for Android, I'll be setting it up soon on my RP3+ handheld.

@@westonscampbell I'll post it to the ESDE and Emudeck Discord when it's finished. The issue is with DATs themselves as always. They don't contain region information for some ridiculous reason. So I'm having to parse file names. You won't need any DATs when this is finished. Just any no-intro or redump set. Redump doesn't have DATs but my tool still works. It's just some complicated regex that spits out a gamelist xml. Hopefully I can ask the ESDE folks to build this into their frontend and be done with this 1g1r nonsense forever.

@@KaiStarkk The problem is that DATs are constantly changing and don't contain region information for sorting sets. I'm saying my app will be integrated into ES-DE so you never have to touch a DAT again. I work with heuristics at a day job. I can identify known roms from any set by name and CRC alone, and use a shrunken merge of all scraper services to merge and sort them into a gamelist xml file. Put roms in folder, enable setting. That's it. It would just look like a toggle for 1G1R views. Retool would require constant maintenance if you wanted updates.

That is a great question. I was experimenting with this just yesterday - I personally DAT the set first and then I 1G1R it afterwards (just to be safe) it's probably overkill, but I do it just to be on the safe side and it doesn't take very long at all. I'm pretty sure doing the p/c on the first go would be just fine as they're up to date too, but my OCD side prefers to Fix names first, then 1G1R on the second pass. But you can use the P/C to do both tasks

@@RetroCrisis that fixed it thanks. Now I’m running into other problems with the NES No-intro rom set and no-intro dat file. When I add the Roms into Romcenter all the roms stay grey and aren’t recognized. Not sure what that’s about

@@GeneralTreesap NES has 2 different types of DATS, headered and unheadered. Try both - I've run into this issue before too

@@RetroCrisis No worries :) I am just getting back in to all this. I used a prebuilt setup but hated it because the roms were sloppy and not specific sets so now I am starting to make my own 1G1R sets with just US etc etc So, what if you want to remove like, Romhacks and Bios and other unnecessary stuff? Do you just do that manually? I seem to recall back in the day being able to filter Slots and Bios files but when I click on Games filtering, those are all greyed out and the only things I can pick are Clones under type, and The items under Status.

It will only work with ROMs that are listed within the DAT files themselves. You can try it to see if it works. I've personally not tried it with translations

The NES No-intro Romset I was using was explicitley lablled as 'Headerless', which I why I went with the headerless DAT. From my observations, it only seems to effect NES romsets. I've never experiences Headered and Unheadered Romsets for say SNES or Mega Drive sets. Must be a historical reason for it.
