Unfortunately most of the jobs would be located in those bigger cities and with the higher cost of living in CA a consistent and substantial income is necessary to live comfortably. Sure, you can live further out at commute, but then there's the vehicle gas & maintenance costs and extra time considering the insane traffic. As I understand it CA isn't known for their fantastic public transit system.

Texas has emissions requirements too, though not as strict as California. It might pass, it might not. Does not matter though as she is set on selling that car and renting a u-haul truck here and taking it there.

He was going to load it in to a 26 ft UHaul in Palm Springs, Ca....$2,700 one way, if he drove it back they would credit him $186... that's what it cost to rent the same Truck from Phoenix going to P.S. $186.00. I can confirm this. I moved from LA to Houston and these prices are spot on. The actual truth is that you might not even be able to get a reservation from LA to Houston. Most locations don't allow it anymore since there's a shortage in California. Getting this price and availability means they've tried at least 10 different locations.

From what I heard Colorado is turning into California....I was comparing homes & prices to Illinois (another state being ruined) and Colorado land/home prices were insane and I wasn't even looking at expensive highly desirable areas. Example, a quick look at Boulder CO 946 Portland PL in Boulder $1.5 million for an old beat up house that needs a ton of work. That house in Iowa, Illinois or Indiana would only be $50,000 . I bought a house in similar size & condition in Peoria IL for $47,000

Sad isn't it? So much poverty surrounded by so much prosperity. My husband and I left California a few months ago and just in time because I got pregnant right after we moved. I'm so thankful we won't be raising our kids in such a messed up state.

I am from there too. Just down the street from my previous job in north Sac ( I now work in Nevada), it was like being in a third world country. And the smell was truly awful. Plus the overall ghettoisation of Sacramento has become a real issue. It is terrible. So glad I could get out of there. It will only get far worse.
