That is why I have greatly diversified my emergency lights. Some are solar, some battery, some propane...

Lard generally works better than crisco, I have found. None of them make good candles you can see well with. Great idea to put in the night candle. Another video told people to cut up their clothing into strips then BRAID it and then use a chopstick to shove it into the crisco. I can guarantee the smoke from that ran them from the room!

bad thing with crisco is the smell but great in crap situations

Why not just burn the long candle? Does it last longer putting the candle and crisco in the jar?
