If you look on the drop down back panel it will tell you exactly how much juice the 710 will pull...it's listed as 160watts. I am not sure if that is peak or continuous at this point. It's best to check what the speaker will draw on start up as most electronic stuff have a boost need on start up which is where alot of people go wrong choosing a power pack of sort. It would be helpful if you could plug in and start up to see what the initial draw would be before it settles down into its continuous draw. The continuous draw will not be the same as peak and needs to be considered in the choice of the battery pack/generator. So in short the battery/generator needs to cover the start up draw and the continuous draw of the speaker. The safer choice would be the 300w here but if the start up draw is confirmed as less than 200 watts then the 200watt will do the job. I am considering the Jackery 240 for my 710 as we don't have the 300 in the UK. Its crazy though as the 710 might only about last 1.5 hours on the Jackery 300 at around 70% whereas the JBL 310 lasts around 6 hours. Economically the Jackery 500 would be the better choice for a 2-3 hour party but then its £500 on top the of the price of the 710....so probably best to find a good extension lead and a mains plug and a more convenient location. Great review for battery info and very helpful my friend, thanks.

The speaker is definitely 700-800 rms watts in theory it only draws 150-180 watts of currents Jbl and Samsung have some of the most efficient amplifiers for their systems in the market so it helps to know what you’re talking about first before you comment lol when I had my 710 I ram it off my Milwaukee 12.0 battery with the 200 watt adapter at 60-85% volume no problem at all
@Panslapper

I suggest you read my comment again before you judge as now you look the bigger fool. 160w is what the speaker might draw and not what it will put out in regards to volume. @@Theaudioguru

I hope you find a roadie in the same year...no offence. I highly doubt it for a few reasons, the obvious is the weight. JBL know that weight would push potential buyers elsewhere. It would be very difficult being a portable speaker. Most Powered PA speakers that range from 1000watts RMS upwards are only half the weight or less of the 710. You would be looking at around 35kg per 710 with an internal battery.

Thanks for a great comparison. Well done! These sound banks are great! I run my Bose L1 compact and two wireless microphone transmitters on a little Jackery 150, along with 2 s1 pros( which have their own internal batteries), and it lasts all night.. The versatility these things bring to us with our set up is hard to beat. BTW, so far I'm impressed with the Jbl partyboxs across the board. I just want to add a little thump to my set up. Of course the big debate is, is it better to get 2 310s which have their own internal batteries, or get one 710, which of course would need a power bank to run on its own? I have several different battery banks, so that part is not an issue. May the research continue.

Hello My friend, I watched the video from the beginning to the end and I want to say that this is a very good review for the JBL Partybox, If I may just ask What is the real watt that Jbl Partybox 710 brings? And I also wanted to know if this speaker is recommended for connecting a TV via Bluetooth inside the house? And one more thing, how many battery hours does this speaker get if I take it out of the house and want to use it outside? And is it possible to use the Partybox without a power charger outside the house? And another question - which Partybox is better, the 1000 or the 710?
@steve31785

You have to plug this speaker into a power source to use it as I show in the video. If connecting to a TV, you should probably use an aux cable. The 1000 will have more bass but most people will not need more bass than this especially indoors.

I was wondering if this can work and with your effort i see it works fine. I was thinking to buy the 710 but the no battery was stoping me to do that.Since i like to party outside at the beach. So i would like to ask some questions . When you play on ac mode at 60% does it sound the same like when you plugged it at the power station or it lowers bass. How many hours does it achieve on power station? Did you see any noticable sound difference at ac mode and power station? Also i have pb100 and on spotify i got a lil louder than apple music also at my air pods pro the db meter on my iphone 13 promax doesnt reach higher than spotify.Usually its like 3 db's louder. @steve31785
@steve31785 2 жыл бұрын
So first off, I don’t notice any sound or bass difference on power station vs wall outlet. The power station I have I estimate will last 4-5 hours on max volume with heavy bass (power draining) songs. Obviously you’ll get more if you aren’t maxing the volume out. That’ll decrease a bit with the Jackery 240. With Apple Music listen to some newer songs and compare them to Spotify songs and see what sounds louder at max volume. Older songs tend to be a bit quieter on Apple Music. I also have the PB100. That speaker is one of the best out there.

@alexdoukas 2 жыл бұрын
@@steve31785 I have tested lossless songs also still Spotify was a bit louder in pb100. True pb 100 is by far the best speaker you can get in terms of mobility. Deep bass and loud enough. Only con is the battery (i wanted a lil bigger) without lights and bass boost 1 can reach 4-5 hours max volume. Will you do a comparison between 710 and 100 outside just to see the difference. Also I checked ecoflow River power station seems good for this job. One last thing is how it is possible to play a speaker with 800 Watts with power station outputs 300 or 500 Watts

Hey Rob, yes it is. In looking around for a suitable power station, pretty much everyone was responding to my comments that’d I’d need something over 800 watts to handle an 800 RMS speaker and I was skeptical so I took a chance and bought this battery and it turns out I was right. In terms of the sound profile, yes, I mention it via text at 18:52. Most definitely the mids and highs stand out more the higher you go above around 60% since the bass doesn’t increase after that. I’m totally fine with that as rarely do I need to play over that volume and the bass output on this i don’t feel is lacking even at the higher volumes.

@@steve31785 That's bad info, you want to look at power consumption not rms. Power consumption on the 1000 for example is 150 watts. Obviously with your readings, the 710 is probably around 125 watts, probably 135 is what it reads on the spec tag. The RMS is output, that's total watts running to the cones and sub after the amplifier. I can't find the 710's consumption on the website but it's probably on the back of the speaker somewhere. People don't understand that the RMS power is found at a continuous sine wave at a specific frequency. Most likely a lower one that requires more power. When you are playing music you don't get that continuous sine wave so of course you won't get close to the rated RMS power. Go ahead and play some bass notes continuously and see how much it draws.

I tested my 710 with a device that very accurately measures wattage. At 60% volume with bass boost one level 1 and the eq bass all the way up playing a 40hz test tone I was hitting over 300 watts getting near 400w. I can't test higher because I live in an apartment and that test already shook my whole apartment probobly along with the ones on the other side of the wall. So I have to be careful so I don't have the police at my place. This weekend in the middle of the day I'll try to see what 80% can do. You can't trust what the powerbank display is putting put.

300-400w max is my guess edit: jbl pb 1000 output about 400-500W (stated in user manual) so logically it should be less powerfull than jbl pb 1000 as it costs less. Your watt-meter probably shows average power consumption and power varies on music. I think you should measure power consumption on specific frequency. To be honest they can write what ever they want to make people buy it lets say those 800W could be an amplifier rms power at 1 ohm and 10% or more THD, messing up speaker max power with rms rating (this usually happens with most speakers for sale) or simply lies competitive numbers to buyers because sony or lg did so. 300W is quite a lot of power to efficient and high spl drivers. Some lg, philips, samsung ect. home systems are ratted at 3500W - 5000W but are about 200W and people are thinking that its so good and loud :D Its called marketing.

I suppose each woofer/tweeter has it's own amplifier and if you feed 150W into a woofer and 150W into a tweeter that's still considerable to be a 150W speaker as they play separate frequencies, so i guess they just add up all the amplifiers' power
@rawux1228
@rawux1228 Жыл бұрын
@@BH4x0r As far as I know there is no tweeters that require more than 10-20W. Maybe there is some but definitely not on this speaker. Tricks they use: 1. They combine all maximum power of woofers/speakers (that power where speaker blows instantly) witch is nonsense to us. 2. Tells amp's max power at 1ohm witch is nonsense if they use lets say 6 ohm speakers. 3. I had 10W speaker and it was advertised as 25W so manufacturer written on the box with small letters "it fells like 25W" :D 4. They use efficient drivers and boxes tuned for higher frequencies to make them sound loud and without deep bass as it requires more power and lies again about RMS power. 5. Races with other companies who lies about the wattage too. 6. Just writes a random number so its impressive to a buyer :D 7. Uses class A amplifier (I doubt, its probably class D) witch is not efficient and requires a lot of cooling. 400W RMS to a 8 Inch mid-range speaker is already pretty much insane. Not sure if there is some that can handle that.
@BH4x0r

@@rawux1228 Not necessarily at low ohms only, look at the Devialet overpriced 108dB Phantom Gold for example they claim 4500W RMS while you can't pull that much power out of a single wall socket, and especially not in the US the thing is their amp would be able to produce that much power if the gain was set higher and if it had better cooling (even with the current drivers installed) but there's the kicker: the amps are able to do that with the current drivers, but they simply are turned down that's actually a good thing, if you have an enormous headroom on an amplifier, especially in an "audiophile" speaker like the Devialet, you'll most likely be playing at 0.001% THD *electrically, because the drivers will always have distortion*, but still headroom is a great thing on amplifiers HOWEVER you shouldn't call your 200W RMS speaker a 4500W speaker.. just because the amp would be able to do that i have my 600W RMS sub at home on a 2400W RMS @ 4Ohm amp, but it's turned down to about 600W RMS (amp has 140VDC rails so about 98.5V RMS AC) the sub is wired to 4Ohms aswell. My most expensive pair of speakers has 2 compression drivers as tweeters, and the speakers can draw more than 110W (it's 2x90W biamplified, so the woofer and tweeter amps share the same power supply but different amps and are crossed over differently) but ye once again they should state the power it's actually doing rather than amp power

We’re talking about 2 different things. What you read in the back of the speakers is the current that the speaker drains from the plug. What’s provided by manufacturers is the speaker’s power (what the amp pulls out and goes to the drivers). Being said that, speaker companies LIE about wattage purposely, as people associate more watts to more loudness.

@@MB2kbps I had a pair of jbl prx 710 with 1500w (claimed by JBL it s probably a Peak value so 750 rms each). And when i play them at full vol the consumption can go up to 450w! @@MikeDaveYapOfficial not true. I spoke to JBL about this as I was confused. The power output of the 1000 is 1100 root mean squared (RMS) I took the bottom off of the JBL and the magnet on the back of the sub is rated at 1050 watts I couldn’t get to the mid range speakers. One reason for the 1000 drawing considerably less power however is because of the subwoofer. The midrange drivers and the compression driver unit use nothing only the subwoofer uses a lot. Whereas for the 710 to keep up with the 1000 it has to use high excursion drivers to keep the bass boost hitting hard I have seen the debates a million times on KZfaq. And if you want the gods honest answer on the truth from a “JBL fan boy” then if you want power loudness and bass then you would choose the 1000. I was too hoping the 710 would take the 1000 down as it looks so neat and does draw more power from the mains electricity. This is mainly because of the woofers in the 710 MOVE big time. They nearly hit the grille on the front of it. I bought a 710 as I simply couldn’t help my self I think it sounds great but as soon as u go past 80 percent volume it’s really screaming. And in an echoey room this would be completely unbearable. Unfortunately the 1000 does sound better. In almost every way however you could say the 710 has more features. Some may disagree. However as of now my go to speaker will remain the 1000 as much as I love the 710. I’m a heavy bass lover and when you have 2 speakers right next to eachother. You will always put the one on with the most bass which is for sure the 1000. I will say tho the 710 is much easier to move around much more compact and feels more sturdy built than the lanky tall 1000

If you’re only going to be using the speaker outdoors, then the new $549 price point for soundboks is a steal. @steve31785 I'm not against JBL they make lots of nice speakers. All I'm saying is comparing an indoor/backyard type disco speaker to a portable Bluetooth speaker misses the point of why people buy the SOUNDBOKS to begin with. If money is no object you could buy a big JBL PA speaker with a real subwoofer and there would be no comparison with the 710. QSC makes outstanding 3 way 15" PA speakers with 18" Subs that would drown out your neighbors 710 or even the ultimate partybox. Match it with a honda generator and take it wherever you want. Realistically the consumer decides what's better at the end of the day. So have a great day and keep on rocking!
