Great tutorial. Not only did I learn how to make the pocket hole, but now I think I have the concept of how to cut into the face of something. Has driven me a little crazy up to now. Thanks!

Yeah I recorded this video several times because I was trying so hard to get that cut face to work and I didn’t want it to be a difficult video to follow. Hope I made it as understandable as possible.

Another great video Drew. One point on the 3D warehouse, I do not think individuals with the free version of Sketchup have access to the 3D warehouse. Thanks Mike

Yes they do, they just have to sign in under what’s called Trimble. I operate on the free version

Good information. However, when you copied the pocket holes for the other side, you rotated each one individually. If you highlight (select) both pocket holes, grab one on the right side and move (copy) the two new pocket holes all the way to the right edge of the board. To keep them aligned to follow the red axes, tap the right arrow key to lock the movement only to the red axes. Move the two new pocket holes to the right and drop (click) on the edge on the right. With the pocket holes still highlighted, RIGHT click the mouse, go to "Flip Along" the select "Component's Red". This will flip the two new pocket holes to face the opposite direction. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much I appreciate the great information and I am sure the viewers also appreciate it. If there’s one thing that I have learned from doing these tutorials, it’s showing them many different methods to do the same thing. Honestly, that is one method that I forgot to re-introduce. Thank you very much for bringing that to light.

@@DracoPCC There are keyboard short cuts. You can also assign other commands to a keyboard short cut. For example: I use grid lines all the time and I get many grid lines going on. When I'm done, I press control G (which I assigned) to remove all the grid lines.

@@rhwoodshop Also, I noticed you use "Hide" and "Unhide". If you assign different components, groups, or objects to Layers, you turn on and off what ever you want.

Great video. I will have to watch more of your videos on how to use Sketch-Up. How do you take your finished plans in Sketch-Up and make a Downloadable printable plan with instructions, measurements and 3D pictures of each component like you sell in your store?

Wondering if you place the pocketholes on the gridline and then go outside the component and delete the gridline will the pockethole then open up the face??

Hi Drew, great video. Was the pocket holes to far from the edge? I do not have a Kreg jig myselve, but I had the impresjon that the tip of the drillbit goes through the board when you make them, your model did not show that as far as I was able to tell. The downloaded model you put in seemed to have a protruding hole that I would have expected to come out of the board, but it snapped into place so far into the board that it remained hidden.

That particular pocket hole was designed for 1 inch thick material, not three-quarter but in real life the pocket hole does not protrude through the end of the board anyway.
@DracoPCC
@DracoPCC 4 жыл бұрын
Rock-n H Woodshop Thanks, I was wondering abouth that because the thin thip of the bit is protruding in some yotubers videos and not in others. It is difficult to know what is right from wrong, without having played with things woureself. Now that you mention it, I reacted for a split second while watching the video (before forgetting), that the model showed so litle support on the underside/backside of the hole but I understand now when you explained the thickneses. Thanks for clearing up, again great video as usual :-) you are good at explaining without rushing (trying to speak fast to get more info into less time), taking time for details, unstrained and natural voice. Your videos are plesant to watch. Ps, pardon my english, as a dyselectic Norwegian I try my best. BOOM!
