Your videos are always enjoyable to watch. Not all videos by others are as professional as yours are. Us viewers prefer limited talk and not showing all of the minor performance. I like a speeded up proscess where it doesn't interfere with the ability to understand what is happening..

hi john. you make it look so easy! my one question would be how do you keep the lids in place? without hinges, all i can think is that you use a copy of the bottom as the lid and the dados on the edges allow the lid to partialy drop into the box?

Lee... I am assuming you are going to the likes of B&Q (Home Depot) for your plywood as that is a crazy price. I go to a local timber yard and they charge around £18 / $22 (US) and they charge an extra £2 / $3 per sheet if you want them to rip it so you can fit it in the back of the car.

As I've said elsewhere, it's tough on us here in the UK when it comes to dado stacks. They can be bought here (at a price) but it appears that table saws for the European "sub-industrial" market never have the arbor to accommodate a dado stack.
@MegaSerif
@MegaSerif 10 жыл бұрын
not only in the UK :( the other problem is we do not have comparable quality "sub-industrial" saws in European market for reasonable price (at least in middle Europe) . or could you give me some tip ?

I don't have a tablesaw, I'm building a router table to hold a plunge router for slot work, and I'm going to try cutting dados with that when it's done. I don't know if it will work or have massive chipout, but it might be an alternative. Otherwise if you do have a tablesaw, you could cut a bunch of thin particle board or hardboard ~thickness of your regular blade to make spacers, and cut the dados doing multiple passes with the regular blade, inserting one more spacer between your workpiece and the rip fence with each cut. Far more time consuming but it'll get the job done.

NAIL HEAD : Woodworkers in the further reaches of experience., Angels to some, Demons to others JOHN : it was a mistake NAIL HEAD : You made the box, we came !! John Heisz This is why I like watching videos. Gathering insight from something you might never have thought of on your own. Generally guys would just switch to a slow curing epoxy but your way is much more economical and less fumes id imagine. I work with PL glue a lot one thing I've found gluing things to osb or plywood it doesn't always get full bonding and just dris up into a glob without latching on to anything. Some tubes will be super loose others really dry. Sometimes I have to introduce a little bit of moisture to ensure good adhesive or trowelling it to create grooves to latch onto.
