A little note on the rubber mallet. If you DO buy them at Harbor Freight, they come with a lifetime warranty, so even if you break them two years in, you get a new one for free when you bring it back to the store.

Just an FYI. The reason the die punch isn't going through, cleanly, when using the wood block, is because your supposed to hit it against the END GRAIN. This will act exactly like the softer rubber mallet. However, I'd have to agree that flipping the punch over is a faster method.

Good morning. In answer to your question. NO. Please. NO. Do Not use any mallet or hammer on a Live or Loaded shell. Once you have powder in the case. DO NOT use anything to strike or hit a live round. The crimping process is by Hand Only. Hitting live or loaded shells is a disaster waiting to happen. And happen it will. Keep your eyes, Keep your fingers. Stay alive. Please don't give the "anti-gunners" more reason's to use against us. They already make the claim that reloading is unsafe and should be banned. Reload smart, reload safe and enjoy the benefits. Hope this information helps. Best regards. Barry

Update from Barry at The X Ring USA llc The 410 Survival Loader kits are temporarily out of stock. Our CNC machining facility has closed due to the Virus emergency. (the 410 kits and newly coming 20 ga. are on hold pending getting parts) We are well stocked with 12 ga. kits. These are currently available. As a result of this Pandemic: Some people discovered that having the ability to reload ammunition, beats standing in-line at a Gun Shop; only to find they are sold out. Hopefully this Virus emergency will be short lived. Until that time; may you and yours be Blessed to get safely through this Pandemic. My best regards. Barry (co-owner)

Good evening Tim. Eventually we will do the 20 gauge. We started with the 410 due to it being a ladies and beginners shotgun, plus the popularity of the 410/45 revolvers for self defense. Had to start somewhere. LOL. But we will eventually get the 20 gauge out there, hopefully sometime in 2019. Also. We will be doing updated videos. we have now updated the 410 ga. kits to be like the 12 ga. kits. The Hornady Crimp Starter will be a standard component to help our shooters make the best crimps possible. And, the price will not be going up on the new updated kits. Those that already have our 410 ga. kits, and might want to upgrade it with the Hornady Crimp Starter, can get one on our website. Hopefully the new videos will be online in a month or so. We are in the process of relocating from the state of Washington to the state of Arizona. Feel free to give input anytime, it is appreciated and we do listen. Barry

@@barrydeclined2547 Good morning, I love shooting my old H&R break action single barrel shotguns and I just purchased a Lee Load All II for 12 ga (and the conversion kit for 20 ga) and I'm excited to start learning how to reload my own shotshells for rabbit, squirrel and other small game. Single shot break action 12 ga is probably the most versatile shotgun ever made, and simple in their construction. There are plenty of people, me included, looking for vintage Lee Hand Loaders but with the current prices of $75-150 it's just way to high. I am so happy that I found thexringusa. I would love to see sets of 12, 20 and 410 shells. I am also very excited about the products at (Short Lane) Gun Adapters.com which I have a few :) Your company and gun adapters.com should join forces to make some awesome packages. Good luck with the 20 ga kit project.

i dont know, I've filled that space with lesser shot... not for hunting or target but for home defense. i just fill a buckshot load with #4 or to be honist what i have at hand. I mean if your shooting a bad guy why throw foam when your can throw lead - i dont care what size. Ive used this kind of thing for roll crimps but its usually just a thin bit of card board.

Glad to help....here is the information.... Best regards Barry.............................. Hole punch size for “Over-shot” wads The punches are actually Leather Craft hole punches. You can find them as singles or in sets. Below is the information on the sizes and where they can be bought. I suggest just buying them as singles, unless you want to have a compete set, The metric are not expensive since they are imported. I found my single punches on ETSY. They were about $4 to $5 each. I tried many different sizes before finding just the right fit. In my opinion, the sizes listed seem to work best. The best are made by C.S. Osborne. Made in the USA Metric::: Imported and can be found on ETSY. But also they are available on Ebay, Amazon, or large selection from Tandy Leather. Normally they are available, either as a single punch or in sets. 410 ga. = 13/32 US size is best or a second best 10.5 mm 20 ga. = 11/16 US size is best or a second best 17.5 mm 12 ga. = 3/4 US size is best or a second 19 mm

This is a reply I posted two someone who claimed the "ammo shortage" was nearly over. Thought it might be interesting to share:::::::::::::::::::::::: There never was a shortage. Shooters in Canada had plenty of US made stuff on the shelves and so did buyers Internationally. (go online and check out the Canadian stores) What we have ; is ammunition makers setting us up for the new Prices. When you see ammo that used to be $12 bucks or less now selling for $29 or more, you will think its' a bargain. This is nothing but "price resetting". I was at a major sporting good store just last week. They were at about 1/2 the capacity of ammo on the shelves. Actually they had a fairly good amount. . ,223/556 was $44.95 for a box of 20. This used to be under $5 bucks. When i asked the manager about the prices, he said they are paying 3 times the old "wholesale prices" to the manufacturers. SO This is about the ammo makers just resetting the price and making you glad to pay it. Willing to pay $29.95 for. box of ammo? When you cave, they will have plenty for you to buy.

@barrydeclined2547 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Antar; I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. Yes, you can make your own wads as seen in the video instead of the "cup style" wads. BUT There are some things to consider. There are "Over the Powder" wads and "Over the shot-load" wads. The "Over the Powder" wads need to be non-flammable for obvious reasons. Back in the old days before Cup wads, they used flame retardant materials such Cork or Felt. Plus they were fairly thick. This was to make sure there was a tight gas seal. and to take up room inside the case so that the shot-load didn't rattle around. The "Over the shot-load" wads add to the padding against the shot load and also take up any extra space. If you are not using a Cup style wad and are using Lead-shot, you may have to clean your barrel more frequently. The lead shot will touch the barrel as it travels down the bore. BUT, if you are using Steel Shot. I strongly suggest you use the Cup style wads to avoid damage to the barrel. I hope this information helps. I appreciate you commenting. Others reads these posts and may also have information that can help. Best regards. Barry-sales

Hello Chris... sorry for taking so long to reply.. I did some research online and found there are several companies who already sell biodegradable shotgun wads.....As for making your own.... I can only think of the old fashion but reliable Cork, or thick cardboard or Felt materials.... If you use Cardboard, be sure to soak in a flame retardant solution to keep the risk of a fire to a minimum. These materials will naturally degrade over time..... These were used in times past, for shotguns before the advent of new technology.... Sorry I can't be of more help.... Best regards.....Barry

How are your "Survival Loaders" significantly different from Lee Pocket Loaders, which often sell for half as much money?
@barrydeclined2547
@barrydeclined2547 Жыл бұрын
Hello Tim and thank you for asking that question. First. LEE used to make manual reloaders for shot shells. But they haven’t for many years now. Look on Ebay. Often a 410 LEE manual kit is north of $150. Ours are also different. They actually resize and make a very decent re-crimp. These are designed for the Survival-Prepper situations. They are also smaller than the old LEE kits. And they are top quality that will last. LEE still makes pistol and rifle manual reloaders at a decent price point. But. For a bug-out manual shot shell reloader,,,,we are head and shoulders above any others. I hope this helps explain to some degree your question. Please let me know if I can be of more help. You might take a look at our Google reviews and those on Ebay. Our website also has a lot of information that may be of some help. thexringusa.com Best regards Barry

@@barrydeclined2547 I see Lee is currently out of stock of the #12 loaders, but I can buy them all day long for less than $50. I happen to have one of the really old ones in the all-cardboard box. @@barrydeclined2547 Na. QUESTION::::: Is the Primer & Powder shortage real, or another "gun control" method? Why is Canada getting USA made powders & primers when shooters in the US market can't? The Canadian don't seem to have a problem getting American made reloading supplies and ammunition. Primers from Cci and Winchester are available in Canadian stores. :::::::::::::::::::::See for yourself::::::::::::::::::::::::: Here is just one of the many Canadian shops. www.bullseyenorth.com/reloading-primers Even the big 2 here in the USA (cabalas & bass pro) don't have ammo, powder or primers for sale. One reason the US manufacturers claim for the shortage is: millions of 1st. time gun buyers bought the ammunition. QUESTION::: Did they also become 1st. time reloaders? And why can't foreign Primers be imported to fill the gap? Brands such as Seller Bellot, RWS, Fiocchi, have boxer primers, not just burdan. I guess there must have been a lot of 1st time gun buyers and reloaders in Europe. Either way: Maybe I am wrong, I have been wrong on things before. But for now, it's my opinion this is made to order shortage. What do you think

Plus. The corporate pricing reset. Price will stay high. They used COVID excuse to cut their work force. Save on payroll and benefits. Raised the price. Make less product, but at 4 & 5 times the amounts. In the end. They actually make a lot more money. Just plain greed.

Hello Mike: The hole punches that I found make the best friction fit are as follows: 410 = 13/32" 20 ga = 17mm is best. Or 11/16" 12ga = 3/4" I bought a set on Ebay a few years back. I use them frequently to make my "over-shot" wads. I like to use different color over-shot wads along with the Hybrid crimp method. That way I can instantly see what the shell is loaded with. I use red for Buck. white for 7 shot and I use other colors for the various other loads. Some reloaders do not like using over-shot wads, but I personally like them. It gives the crimp something to compress into. I get really decent crimps that way, Anyway, please feel free to write if I can be of help. I will help out the best that I can. Please feel free to comment. Our fellow shooters like to read tips and helpful hints from others, best regards barry

@barrydeclined2547
@barrydeclined2547 Жыл бұрын
Hello and hopefully this will answer your inquiry. 20 ga. = 11/16 is best or a second best 17.5 mm I use a leather punch made in the USA by C.S. Osborne. Bought it on ETSY for about $6. Hope this helps. Best regards. Barry

PLEASE don't make wads of any type out of !@#$!@# plastic! Paper products, natural fibers, etc. that can decompose & not end up polluting the environment for 1000s of years w/ microplastics only. Remember, we hunters are the 1st conservationists, *because* we want our descendants to have the same pleasure afield as we enjoy!

I use the primer boxes, wad boxes, cigarette packs, boxes from zip lock bags and so on. That type of card stock works great. Being broke most the time I've even started reclaiming plastic wad cups that are in good shape. Been reloading metallic cartridges for years and fairly new to shotshell loading, but I've been a brass gremlin and broke for a long time! 😂😂

Where can I get a punch 3/4 or 5/8 "
@barrydeclined2547
@barrydeclined2547 2 жыл бұрын
The punches are actually Leather Craft hole punches. You can find them as singles or in sets. Below is the information on the sizes and where they can be bought. I suggest just buying them as singles, unless you want to have a compete set, The metric are not expensive since they are imported. Single punches are best found on ETSY. They are about $2 to $4 each. I tried many different sizes before finding just the right fit for each gage. Hope this information helps. Best regards. Barry

This applies to International sales only: Normally we ship to International customers. However; Due to the Virus lockdown, and the rising case numbers, we had to again suspend International shipping. A dealer is posting Survival Loader Kits on Ebay. Ebay still ships Internationally through their Global Program. This is a temporary alternative until such time the Virus emergency clears. Good morning Jonathan and thank you for posting a comment. The video is just information to help other shooters. We do not sell Wad kits or supplies. Shooters and re-loaders try to look out for one another. With all the anti-gun stuff; we try to take care of each other since one else will. I hope you found the video information. It’s a nice way to make Wads and save money. Thank you again. Best regards Barry

Great tip, horrible crimp. The overshot wad is there as a filler so the crimp is good, not for a horrible crimp so the colors can be viewed.. WTF 🤷 If you want to use overshot wads to mark or color code, then use a roll crimp so it at least looks like it was done properly.
