I love both the aesthetic and practicality of the tiles. Having scenery which you can pack away is always useful as it means it's not in the way if you haven't got the space to leave it lying around all the time. Numbering the tiles and adding their orientation was a genius addition too!

Instead of inks, try to use oils in your next project. Much longer working time, easier clean up & they flow nicer. It will save you more time than messing around with inks and yield a better result.

Thanks for the tip! Oils have been used in previous videos due to the reasons you mentioned. I was slightly concerned about oils over this scale due to wait times and additional sealing and consistency issues. I can make oil washes work of smaller scale stuff. But due to how big this project was I had to just do the things I knew would work rather than experiment too much as every step of this project took forever sadly. But I’m with you on oils for sure. It’s a super great method.

@BUNKER6 I use Winsor & Newton oils out of the tube, I dilute with white spirits when doing panel lines over a gloss clear coated project. When done I let them dry for an hour (basically wait for the spirit to evaporate) and hit them with GW munitorum varnish. It works really well for speeding the process along, did nearly 4500pts of eldar with this method. Try it out when you have some free time. The varnish locks the oil in place and you can keep on working. Also used it on some gundam kits too.

I think an all over oil wash would have made a few parts of this much easier for you.

It’s strange because I normally have no problem using oils. But for some reason I just couldn’t let myself go there on this project. I played it very safe and stayed in my lane with things I knew would work no matter what. But hopefully I’ll pull out the oils more often for painting the buildings. A real time saver would have just been to buy the official Legions Imperialis tiles 😂

This is the stuff: a.co/d/1CLRplm it’s fantastic. But be warned. This is the stuff that I had an allergic reaction with. It completely destroyed my sinuses when ever I used it. It was crazy.

I didn't knew platinum silicon didn't cure with uv resin (or 3d printing UV resin inhibite the curing of platinum silicon)

The combination of silicon and resin seemed to be the issue. It’s sulphur fumes apparently. But thank you for watching.

Because this is resin they're all going to be different heights because they're different volumes... did you not pour 24 of the same tile? With the same resin no less? Why would they turn out different heights?

Yes, measurements were not always exact due to pouring from giant bottles into small measuring containers. Pouring out the resin was not always consistent between pours due to resin getting stuck on the inside of the measuring cups and the mixing stick, additionally the walls of the molds were not supported so they warped and widened. Things can get a little inconsistent when 72 pours are involved. I hope this makes things clearer for you. 🫠

To be clear each tile was created with Epoxy resin. This is an extremely high viscosity product unlike resin used in recasting models. This stuff is as thick as molasses. Not like watery model resin. Pouring epoxy in one go creates trapped air bubbles and you will not always get the resin in all the nooks and crannies. You brush the first layer of epoxy to minimize missing any details. Then you go in with each major pour after that with hours long intervals. So at this point I feel your comments are just more antagonist rather than honest enquiry. But keep it coming. I can waste your time as much as you’re wasting mine. 🤙
