I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. kzfaq.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

Nice design! Another option might be to make it height adjustable by using threaded rod with nuts instead of the hitch pin..

Hey, Thanks! I am going to try to make one today! I need my first lawn cut for the year and I want to make it look nice! If you get a chance to answer this question, What did you used to cut the mat? What are you connecting the adjustable hooks to?

Does the striper float as you go up a small hill and when in reverse? It looked to have some travel on the center pin. Looks Great 👍

Funny! I've been looking for DIY striper ideas... and built my own. The FUNNY part is, I came up with almost the exact same set-up!! For the "mat", I used an old heavy-duty truck mudflap (like on semi's or a dump-truck). In the first rendition, I left them long... so that they "fold" and drag along the back. I wasn't impressed with the faint stripes that it left. So was thinking that it might be better ("stiffer") if I shortened them to JUST touch the ground or a little more... LIKE YOURS!! I also used a 9/16" bolt for the hitch mount. It tightens down enough that I don't need the side-bracing like you did. BUT, I like your hitch-pin idea for quick removal!! BTW, I'm using mine on an older Sears Craftsman 42" riding tractor (not a ZTR). Thanks for the idea(s)!!

Hey, Do you have a picture of the one you made?
@bobcody19507 жыл бұрын
Sorry, can't get to it right now (buried in the garage). I have a riding TRACTOR with a trailer hitch. I took a perforated "L" channel (like the one in the video) and cut it to length - to fit between the rear tires. I enlarged one of the holes that was centered, to 1/2" and dropped a 1/2" bolt in the hitch/channel to secure it. Then drilled holes in the semi-truck mud flap to match the holes in channel... four bolts (at each end and then spaced-out the other two to have four equally spaced bolts). Fortunately, the mud flap was the exact width and length that I needed. I really torqued-down the 1/2" bolt in the hitch and - so far - haven't had to make any "'side-supports" to secure it further. HOPE THAT HELPS?

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I made my own two weeks ago and it works beautifully ! I only spend about $35.

Just curious... how close to the ground to you make your mat/flap? Just above ground level? At or longer than ground level? Or, how high above the ground? Mine was "long", but I just left it that way to try it. It probable curls back and is on the ground for a foot or so, maybe more. It IS LONG ENOUGH that it doesn't curl back underneath the mower when I back up. But, wonder if it would strip better if shorter? Tell me about yours... Thanks!!
@badassdiva47537 жыл бұрын
The one I made its touching the ground. It is long enough, However, It is attached to my lawnmower farther back so when I am backing up, it won't curl under the tires of the lawnmower. Example, If the height of the mat is 10" then you have to attach it about 1 foot and 3" away from the tires. My striper has the following measurements (35" wide X 10" height)

I have same zero turn as this, looks very easy to do knowing the machine and how you did it, my question is, I have the bagging system on mine. Wondering if you do as well? And whether or not this interferes with bagging system or not? And can both be used at same time? Looks like you didn't utilize any of the attachment holes for the bagging system while installing this.

Wow that looks clean!!!! I tell people you don't have to by over-glorified nonsense when you can do the same exact thing at a 10th of the cost using basic stuff. You just need something to rub the grass for goodness sake lol. This was PERFECT. LOVE this concept and I fee the need to do the same now soon.

What type of grass show in the video? It looks like St. Augustine. I live in Houston, Tx which is full of warm weather grass. Thinking of doing some stripes. I mow it long and with a sharp blade ... should make some nice stripes as my mower wheels makes a decent stripe.
@c.c.affordablelawnservice72457 жыл бұрын
it's mainly Kentucky Blue Grass with Fescue
@XSoft7 жыл бұрын
Ok, thanks for the reply ... Unfortunately no stripes on St. Augustine. I tried several different options to no avail. My mower is pretty heavy (115 lbs) but the St. Augustine just will not bend even at a 3 inch mowing height. I am thinking of over seeding with Fescue or something else ... I like the look of those cool weather grass lawns especially after they are striped. It just takes your lawn up to a total different level. Will try it in the back yard first.

I see the concept and it gets a grade of "E" for effort, but its typical urban fab... Light duty, store bought, bolted together. (except for Booger weld with follow up sniff) Hey, it works for you and it's better than the stripe kit I have... at least you did paint it. You do however, get bonus points for making it yourself. Just bustin your balls man, keep them lines straight.
