A really great video, there are definitely some products better than others but this one seems to work really well. We love your videos, like ourselves, we try to portray good affordable boating and try to do all of our own maintenance when we can!

Exactly one of the reasons why i traded my beautiful Swift Trawler 34 for a teak-less NC1095. Yes teak is beautiful but it comes a time when one can not do this work any more. Do enjoy your videos very much.

Good job. The Semko sealer won’t skin in the can. The frequent stirring is to prevent the tint from settling. The teak needs to be bone dry so that it draws in the sealer. Definitely 2 or 3 coats to get some water repellency. I find the Honeytone gets a bit hot underfoot when in the sun. I now use the Natural tone which doesn’t get as hot. I need to do mine every 6 months. Love the videos. 😊

Thanks for your advice. I don't know why Brooke kept saying that it would skin??? She just knew to keep it stirred! We have found good water repellency as well and it is holding up perfectly (few months later). Interesting point about the colour, I'll see how it goes over the summer. Let us know if you have any video ideas!

Semco is a good product! The reason why you have to stir it is not because it skins on top but because the pigment settles…

Great video for those with teak ( I’ve got Flexiteek- looks good at the moment but need a cleaner this winter). Just not picking point. Why didn’t you remove the forward cockpit seat? At least if you remove it now you can spot the difference you have made. Regards to you both. Your winter weather looks better than our summer! Lucky People!

I have no idea why we did remove the seat, that would have been easier!!! Get so caught up doing these things sometimes. It is a little scary how warm our winter is, summer is going to be hot.

Thanks a million. That's exactely, what I was looking for. Perfectly explained. Thanks. After your treatment: How is the grip on the teak. It's not slippery whilst being oiled, is it?

Great glad it helped. The teal is a little slippy sometimes. We have a welcome mat that helps. It is holding up well.

My marina doesn’t permit use of acid in the slip. Dry dock only.
@TheRudder

It is very weak acid but yes it could be a problem in a marina. I believe all the teak cleaners are a weak acid of some sort. Maybe someone knows another product??

It is a personal choice, I've been very happy with 'naked' teak for two years but it does require a bit more care. I'm still very happy with the look of this product a few months on.

how often do you have to clean tea?

Depends on how much sun and water the teak gets but we do it annually.
