Vegan Turkey Options are a hot topic! Which one is worth is?
We went around to our local stores and found 9 different meatless vegan turkey alternatives for the holidays.
Of course we had to put them through our taste test and see which ones are best!
They ranged from 9 minutes cook time to an hour and 45 minutes and ranged in price from $4 to $20

This is my fourth year vegan. I've seen the small field roast one and I've never tried it so I'm so glad you made those video. My question is which one would you recommend smoking? We smoke turkeys during the holidays.

It wasn’t bad. I enjoyed it. I personally prefer Tofurky over the Field Toast or the Trader Joe’s. Hope you find something you love as explore.

This is my fourth vegan Thanksgiving and I still haven't tried any of the vegan turkey's. I have always been a sides and stuffing girl even before I went plant-based. Looks good though!!

This was very helpful, thank you! I didn't even realize the abundance of vegan turkeys! I also like the longer-length format because then each product is reviewed very thoroughly and thoughtfully, and you give us very good insight into each product before we go and try to buy them ourselves. :)

My number one fave brand for vegan meats is Field Roast. Amazing hamburgers and all sorts of sausages. But love Tofurky roast cooked in the fireplace, just like s’mores. The taste is really good. Much better than in the stove. Love their deli meats. Thank you for the information and entertainment. Got many giggles!

Hello, I enjoy watching you both. You add entertainment and information. I literally value you guys' options on what to buy for lunch and dinner and run to buy your top favorites. I tried the Field roast celebration with the traditional bread stuffing and Gardein holiday roast and I was surprised with both, so I'm going to make both for Thanksgiving and save for leftovers after thanksgiving. Thanks for doing this taste test and including so many options! Really happy to see you had both Gardein large and mini roasts since I've tried the minis before and always wondered how the large roast compared. I might give the Trader Joe's one a try this year and make my own mushroom gravy instead of using theirs. Glad to see some NJ vegans here! I grew up in Bordentown but moved to VT 7 years ago. Definitely not as many options up here but luckily some of my local stores do a good job at carrying a few good ones. This was my first video of yours I've watched but I'll definitely be checking out more. Happy Thanksgiving!

I’ve tried the aldi turkey-less breast and the tofurkey and love both. I didn’t notice the same mustard/Mayonnaise flavors that you guys described. I’m intrigued to try the other ones you guys reviewed. Appreciate this review video!

Omg!! You guys are so lucky! Lots of choices where you live. We live the tofurky and gardein stuffed turkey but I haven’t seen the larger Gardein holiday roast!! Yum! Great share. Awesome resource for people new to eating vegan💚

I made the TJ’s version today and instead of making the gravy as gravy, I put it all on top for the last 20 minutes of cooking. I loved it and it was only $13.

We have tried Trader Joe’s and the Gardein one. I love the Trader Joe’s one and my partner loves the Gaardein one. We do Gardein for Thanksgiving, and Trader Joe’s for Christmas. I want to taste the Field Roast after seeing your review.

I had the trader Joe's for Thanksgiving and Christmas last year and it's so good. The gravy was good, too. I had to add a little salt to and whisk it. Thanks for going over the allergens. I'm allergic to soy, as on soy protein or isolate. I can have soy sauce and that's what in the gravy. Most of the others had soy protein, so I haven't tried those. I need to head over and grab one!!

This will be my first vegan Thanksgiving! Funnily enough, in December before I did Veganuary, I was dreading what being vegan would mean for holidays. Now, I'm excited to try a vegan roast! For the first time my whole Omni family did all vegan dishes with us. It’s been mostly vegan there last two years. We did potluck style this year and my brothers girlfriend actually made the greenbean casserole fully from scratch! Everything was so good. Last year my mom thought her husband wanted the green bean casserole with the usual dairy cream of mushroom and cheese on top, but that ended up being the only thing he didn’t eat! So she didn’t even bother this year 🤣 I tried the Trader Joe’s for the first time and enjoyed it, but my daughter didn’t love it

love the little Gardein minis, but the Trader Joe's roast is the best of all I have tried. And the TJ's roast comes with a recipe on the box for cooking it in the oven with onions, carrots and potatoes. And THAT is how you do it. Good review, and thanx for your efforts.

Living in EU I am not very familiar with all the traditions of Thanksgiving but I feel like these would be awesome for Christmas :D I will not be able to get my hands on any of these but getting some inspiration is always welcome! LOVE the video! It's THAWING, to UNTHAW would be to freeze! We had the TJs roast last year and I thought it was a 6.5/10, pretty good. The other night I was craving Thanksgiving, so I bought the Gardein turkey cutlets with gravy, not one that you tried, and they are pretty darn ok. I have also had the Field Roast Hazelnut cranberry roast en croute and it was REALLY good. This year I am going to make a lentil loaf with cranberry sauce wrapped in puff pastry, always tastes better homemade.

I bought 2 frozen turkey-less roasts at Whole Foods recently and I got the Whole Foods 365 version and the Gardein Holiday Roast. We had the Gardein Holiday Roast for Thanksgiving along with my Mushroom Gravy which is a combo of Sweet Potato Soul and Jane Esselstyn's recipes and it was PERFECT! Thank you for this video! Gonna try the TJ's roast for sure!

I was so excited to watch this when I saw it pop up in my notifications. I have a feeling my husband and I will be going to his parents for thanksgiving and they are very much meat and cheese and milk in EVERYTHING.. now at least I can bring something for myself besides a side or two. This was super helpful, thanks!! I’ve had the tofurky roast and just felt like the look of it was a bit off putting. I’ve also had a field roast one that was wrapped in pastry with a cranberry filling and it was really delicious! This year I think I’ll try either the field roast with the bread stuffing or the gardein, those sound the most intriguing to me.

My favorite is the field roast mini, this is also my third thanksgiving and I tried the mini last year, and it was great, only vegan in the family, anyways that is the only one that I will purchase. Thanks for sharing your view on each one! Oh my cooking is that I pan/skillet fry mine for maybe a couple of minutes to brown it some to my liking and no gravy, still quite good.

I don’t like mushrooms either. If they’re chopped into tiny bits and mixed in with a bunch of other things, I can deal. But if there are large pieces or they’re the main ingredient in something, no thanks!

I know I’ve seen some vegan turkey in the stores Jan/Feb, so I am looking forward to November after watching this. Also, I used to live in SJ and loved Natural Health! I’m also so jealous you have a Sprouts there. Loving all your videos and your vibe. GREAT taste test and really helpful reviews of each product. 🙌🏻 Side note: I’m a fan of TJ’s cheeseless cheesecake. 😍

We had both Gardein and Tofurkey for our first thanksgiving 3 years ago. They were both good, but our favorite was Gardein. Since the kids don’t like the stuffing, we buy their turkey cutlets for the kids and do the roast for ourselves.

I’m not vegan but I have been vegetarian for 6 years. The second celebration roast is what I usually get (from Kroger). I am the only vegetarian in my family so it’s the perfect size to have leftovers. I have found that I like the taste a lot better when it’s prepared in a crockpot with vegetables and cream of mushroom soup. It has better flavor and isn’t as dry. I also really like that this product is made with wheat gluten instead of soy.

I will say that I didn’t like it very much the first time I had it. It had a dog food smell to it, but after finding the best way to prepare it (in a crock pot), I really look forward to having it at the holidays

OMG, that's about $300 dollars worth of vegan "Holiday" roasts, I'm sure glad you liked some of them! After seeing that vegan whole turkey _thing_ you may have heard of in the cooler of my local health food store a few days ago[shudder], I was thinking I may have to do just sides this year. But they also had a few of the roasts you review here, so I appreciate these recommendations, and will try to get one of your preferences next week. TFP : )

Ohh tofurkey roasts 😆 the OG of thanksgiving meals. My favorite basting at the end was red wine with rosemary. I’ve since moved on to making my own main dishes like a lentil and sweet potato Sheppards pie as my main dish. Great for new vegans for sure and it so exciting all the new options that have come out since I first went vegan

FYI - The Trader Joe's version is now sold year round I believe. I was there the other day and saw a full shelf of them for purchase.

I love the Gardein one and the Field Roast one. My local vegan restaurant will be cooking their own for pick-up for thanksgiving so I think this year we will try that one.

Love the time you put into these taste test videos. Don't change a thing. 💓Tofurky is the original for sure. Gardein and trader joes are the best but tofurky is the one you get if you've been vegan forever and you like to give it your own flare. Cut it up, braise it, sauce it, roast it with other veggies. The gravies are never useful, definitely make your own.
