I’ve tried them twice to make sure & I still didn’t like them, maybe they just weren’t ripe. I loved the Rambutan though 🍡
@sarahgutierrez70653 жыл бұрын
Exotic fruits are pretty common in our household. Just FYI: Rambutan is red when it is fresh. Dark brown means it's old, so the flavor is going to be different (and not in a good way). Even ripe, however, it is a very mild fruit (not our favorite). It will not ripen once off the tree. Starfruit tastes amazing when it's more orange with darker edges (as you described). Sweet, flavorful and very juicy. Cactus Pears come in a number of varieties. Our favorite is the large green ones, which have a fresh, juicy melon flavor. The others we find pretty bland. Don't chew the seeds, just basically squish it around inside your mouth and swallow everything. We can eat those by the buckets. Lychees are our #1 fruit, but there are a number of varieties and they are all slightly different. Our local big box store carries the worst tasting lychee possible. They should be completely sweet (and yes, floral), with no brown on the skin (that means they are old) and they should feel like they almost have a bounce to them when you press on them. If they give, they are old. And they taste terrible when they are old. They do not ripen once off the tree. We open them by peeling the stem at the top (then we suck the juice out before it spills - the best part!) and then peel or even crack the skin down the lychee. They taste best when refrigerated. Persimmons in our household are preferred crunchy. We eat them like apples, skin and all. Never knew people didn't eat the skin. It would be great to have more videos that talk about different varieties of produce, including different varieties of vegetables like tomatoes or carrots etc. They all taste different and can be used for different purposes (especially tomatoes). These can often be found at farmer's markets and can add take vegan dishes to the next level. The varieties we are used to in stores are not there because of flavor or quality, but because it does well mass-produced and sits well on the shelves. The more we are aware of the amazing varieties out there (just look up apples for example) then hopefully that will create more demand for quality products that actually taste like the fruit was meant to taste like.

The persimmon should be soft and jelly like on the inside. They are incredibly sweet. If they are picked too soon in the wild, they can make the inside of your mouth pucker. I believe they have to be picked after the first frost. The star fruit should have been a little riper as well, I think. I would have waited to slice that until the spines were browner and the fruit was a golden yellow. I LOVED this video and would love to see more. I also think the pear cactus might not have been completely ripe. The ones I have had have been very sweet. Please do more taste tests like this but I also love your regular videos.

I think persimmons are best tasting when they are ripe to a pudding like consistency. Like the skin starts to dent when you pick it up. Especially with hachiya persimmons, since they are very astringent and bitter when not fully ripe. I do prefer fuyu though. Last fall I made a lot of persimmon preserves.

Well the cactus pear doesn't have the name because it looks like a cactus but it grows on a specific type of cactus. Its like a cactus fruit. It's very common in Egypt (where I live).

And I just know the green ones and they are really soft and yummy. So maybe try the green ones again and they have to be, when u squeeze it, soft.

I laughed so much at his faces when trying things. The passion fruit at the end when he keep spooning into his mouth and look on his face every time. Hilarious!!! You should order some exotic fruit from Miami fruit. They have so many different kinds. I always wanted to try Black Sapote which is suppose to be known as the chocolate pudding fruit or the Durian which is suppose to taste like almond ice cream or the Canistel which is suppose to taste like custard. One day I will try them. Just have to find out where to locate them. :)

1:50 These are my absolute favourite! Donut/Flat/Ufo/Cookie/Paraguayan Peaches are just so so delicious! Especially when at that perfect ripeness when they are already sweet but still slightly crisp :D

Having the skin of the seed sticking onto the meat of the fruit is common with rambutan (or 'quả vải' in Vietnamese). It's actually a joke between me and my brother that if we manage to get three or more seed skin free rambutans in one eating, we're buying a lottery ticket :))) Oh, and lychee is DELICIOUS. Fight me.
@MakeItDairyFree3 жыл бұрын
omg that's awesome! I hope you win one day too So is the lychee supposed to be completely red on the outside first?
@haanhdo41903 жыл бұрын
@@MakeItDairyFree I would say 90% red is ripe enough to eat. Of course, the redder the better.

Don’t bite the seeds. You can run it in a blender with some water on low for a couple of minutes, and pass it through a strainer. You will have the juice without the seeds. I grow them in my yard.
