From a load perceptive, it would be better to have something to sit on a horizontal beam to interlock with the vertical beam. Apart from that, it's a very nice joinery.

I was going to say no place is allow you to do that anymore. Everything needs hangers But for furniture or other craftsmanship products that looks excellent

Вопрос! Какова прочность сей конструкции если две вставляемые балки имеют 1,6 от своей толщины, причём тоньше они стали в обоих разверстках? Получается в месте стыка эти балки стали бруском, который при давлении не более ста килограмм можно сломать и где можно применить это соединение?

Да не только японцы, вспомнить уроки труда в школе, любой наш, русский, обычный мужик, сделает подобную подставку с помощью ножовки, стамески да молотка, ну рашпилем внутренние части подравнять разве что. А тут выпендрёж сплошной, мол смотрите, сколько у меня станков!!!

That's pretty cool! I once made a Turkish gumball machine stand out of leftover Playa mud and lumber from a festival, I used tree sap and beehive honey for glue and Christmas tree tinsel for strapping
