‼️IMPORTANT‼️
The stitch I used is a DOUBLE CROCHET and NOT A HALF DOUBLE CROCHET. Like I said I am very new to crocheting and I got myself confused. I apologize for the confusion.
I wanted to come on here to say that I am a beginner at crochet. I have never crochet something in my life until now, I have been watching so many videos to start because I really find it interesting! if anyone does get confused and end up making it out of half double crochets, it still turns out fine, it just isn’t as stretchy. it’s just a little bit of a tighter stitch! i didn’t realize she meant double, and i did my whole ring in half doubles, worked great and looks the same!!!:)

I’m a little confused you mentioned half double crochets but I only saw you work w double crochets by yarning over inserting the hook yarning over pulling thru yarning over pulling thru the first two then yarning over pulling thru the last two that I was taught was considered a double crochet not a half double crochet the mix up of terminology may be where the confusing came from

Are you Turning the work over when you start a new row? If that’s what you’re doing that might be why you’re getting results like that

thanks for the tutorial, @unarosa_18! could you help me figure out just one thing? I've restarted the recipe 4 times alredy because my balaclava keeps getting wider as I crochet. do you know what could be the reason?

You are crocheting into the wrong stich when you slip stitch. Make sure to use a stitch marker so you count the same stitches every round. If you slip stitch into the any of the 2 single stitches you’ll increase every round leading to a wider balaclava. Hope this helps :)

You gotta flip your work, if u barely payed attention like an adhd like me. She did a flipstitch to the round that you start then chained 2 single ring, then we gotta flip the work, so your work wont get curvy lookin

The part of the work that is facing you gets flipped like a book. So you crochet all the way across, slip stitch, chain and then flip the work from the right to the left and work around the ring on the opposite side but crochet the right way like you usually do. Just watch closely how she turns her work and try to mimic that.

One of the most common reasons for crochet curling is stitches that are too tight. This will also cause your crochet fabric to become stiff causing the curl. Simple ways to correct this issue: If you make your chain too tight, make your starting chain with a larger hook if then continue to make the remainder of the pattern in the suggested hook size. If your chains are too loose, keep practicing or try a smaller hook. I hope this helps!
