Making a Console Staircase - Pt1 steel

No more ladders :) turn CC on for subtitles! We assembled the steel staircase which will be covered in wood when most of the interior work will be done. I made the stairs almost half a year ago when we were only starting with the house build but didn't install it because it would get in the way when moving the scaffolding and during the concrete pours of the upper floor. It waited on the construction site so it got a bit of rust here and there, but now when all that rough work is completed, we could finally assemble it. Each stair is made from 60x60x4 square tubes welded on 15x25cm 12mm thick steel plate. To connect the stairs to the concrete wall, we used 16mm threaded rods anchored with vinyl ester resin.
I hope you like this this project! Please ask any question in the comments and as always, subscribe for more!:D

Greetings from Baldock in England, firstly as a construction man of 53 years, I am so impressed with your videos from first cuttings the foundations to currant status. A truly great journey in constructing this amazing house, together with attention to detail and coordination. Looking forward to the next videos and ultimately the finished article, in particular the external landscaping and boundry fencing. Best Regards Valentine Shanley

Wow I have never done construction before its not even close to my field. But i just sat through 11 videos "Building Your Home" plus this one and i can tell you i am fascinated by your work, excited to begin my journey and tired like hell lol because i felt as if I was working alongside you guys lol. This is some great work and although in the Caribbean we dont do as much when building our houses, it still taught me a lot. I will definitely be watching more of your videos. Thank you

Thank you! Yeah this is just the first step, the wood will come last after all the interior work so it doesn't get damaged. I'm also thinking about installing two thin steel pipes up to the ceiling on each step so nothing can get trough and stairs will keep the floating look, still thinking about it though..

As a once young architect I once dreamed of being able to design floating stairs. After spending decades as designer/builder for young families, families with seniors, renovations when we had to haul heavy stuff up and down stairways, etc., I accept that I have to content myself to admiring other designers' projects such as this. 🙂

I hate to sound pretentious, but unless you actually have experience working on similar work as this, it’s hard for people to really appreciate what you’re doing here. With the amount of skill, precision and most of all the thought that you’re putting into each of the elements on this house. It really is cool to watch when you know that this stuff is not nearly as simple as it looks. Outstanding project! 🤜🤛

I did but it didn't deflect the drill bit too much. I was fortunate that distance in between each step is almost the same as double distance on the rebar mesh, steps are cca30cm apart and mesh was 15x15cm. so if I missed it on the first step, I was quite sure I wont hit any at all.. I hit a couple on the horizontal direction though.. Thank you for watching! :)

Glad you like it! That concrete wall bill be covered in steel panels of various heights to give it a mosaic look. the stairs will be wooden with steel pipes as guard going up to the ceiling. I thought about wood cover for the wall but there is enough of it already with the beams and the ceiling so wood will come on the kitchen side. I'm thinking of some pattern like I did the guitar case if you looked that video, but on the whole wall. Hope it wont be too much and overwhelming.
