I love how it turned out! While I know you are critical of her face, but on camera her face really looks like Dolly. The sparkle in her eyes, her dimples and the fact that you got her big toothed smile on a closed mouth is amazing. I love when you collaborate with Rachel. It's like hanging out with two super goofy art friends, double the fun!

Aww she's totally recognizable as Dolly! I think the fit of the corset is just down to it being so tiny. To make a tape pattern for a doll this size, you would've had to cut the tape into really thin strips to be able to mold it to her body better. The hair is perfect! Love the little bow!❤

Yes! I make clothes for Barbie dolls, and the patterns at this size come down to millimeter precision occasionally! I personally use painter's tape since it's thin, does not stretch, and pen will not rub off of it. I actually stick it directly to the body in thin strips, and then when I take it off, I'm just careful so I peel it all away in one go. Then I cut out my pattern pieces, and then I flip the pieces sticky side up, and add more tape so no side is sticky. Trim excess away, and there you have a pattern that won't rip easily, is hyper-accurate, can easily be written on to distinguish each pattern piece, and can be re-used. I also don't pin or hold down the pattern on the fabric with my hands, as that often leads to too much shifting when every millimeter counts. I use regular double sided tape and pat it with my finger to get it to a slightly less sticky state before putting it on the fabric. And as if that wasn't enough, you also have to pay even closer attention to the fabric grain being positioned the same when you make doll clothes as opposed to regular human clothes, because again, every millimeter of shifting counts. I hope they do more collabs together and explore more doll sewing now that they can apply all our tips and tricks for a way less headache-inducing process, lol!

@@SavannahAlexandraArtA little late here about the spray, I think why the head is shiny before the repaint before you may have sprayed it too close. Don't know about colorshot but I'm really curious how it works since I really want a good msc alternative.

the singing of "doll clothes they are the same as human clothes just really tiny" made me nod cause that is how my mom taught all of us kids how to sew. We made clothes for our dolls and plushies so my two brothers and I are still either sewing, knitting or crocheting when we have time and people think us so weird XD

If it helps any, I showed my (male) roommate a screenshot of just the doll's face and asked him if he could tell who it was supposed to be, and he immediately said Dolly Parton with absolutely no prompting so I think you nailed it. Nicely done!

Plus I think that she is happier as Dolly than as Chloe.😉 Please do more with Rachel in the future, would love to see you two re-create/create fantasy creatures from Warcraft, D&D and LoTR.

She reminds me so much of these like felt vintage Christmas elf decorations my mom has that we always put out growing up. I think we had a Santa too. They had like wire inside so we could pose them. They were always very Rankin and Bass claymation Christmas special to me. But she seriously looks just like them same sweet cute face vibes! I LOVE it! I used to curl my dolls hair too! But I put them in a hot-hot water head down with straps in their hair (the face wasn't covered). Waited like 3-5 minutes. After it dried down, it was keeping curls for extremely long time.

Hello, thank you for the video! I love Rachel's videos, so I got recommended your video! I think the Dolly doll looks really good, I especially like her smiling eyes, you can really see Dolly in it. The hair looks amazing, and I love the small gingham print! I do watch quite a lot of doll repaint videos, so I do have some suggestions. You may want to wrap the hair in a rag when you do the face up, this keeps the hair from getting paint on it and keeps it out of your way when working. I've seen a lot of Hextian dolls where he just paints the teeth on the lower lip, and it looks just fine. Ive also seen him take small styrofoam balls and hot glue it on the doll head to get that bouffant look, you just have to paint the styrofoam to hide it better. I do agree with you, using the epoxy clay and blending might have worked a bit better for the chest. For the corset, I know it wouldn't have matched Dolly's original look, but maybe making cups for the corset to fit around the chest woukd have let it be more form fitting? I wasn't sure if the duct tape pattern was gonna work with the felt being used as the chest, it probably needed the clay on there first. But overall great work, I enjoyed the chaotic energy of you and Rachel working together!

This looks great!! I think if u wanna do leather with a doll, vinyl and double-sided tape might be a better friend to drastic shapes. It looks like leather and can be shiny too. That said, this looks awesome, it rly does. I think Rachel did a great job on the dress and I think the face worked out in the end! I think the part that doesn't "capture" Dolly is more about the Bratz head being a certain shape than anything you could have done.
