Making a Dovetail Saw - Handle from Olive Wood

In this video I make a 10" dovetail saw for woodworking. The handle is made out of olive (fire)wood and all the hardware was ordered from Blackburn Tools.

I’ve made about 40 backsaws now…great work, it will last you a lifetime!

Looks good, wish I had a piece of that olive wood. When I set the teeth on my dovetail saw. Over set teeth a slight bit. Then cut two pieces of aluminum angle stock with of vice jaws. Fold a piece of regular printer paper in half. Wrap around teeth. Put saw teeth in padded vice jaws and tighten. Gets you a perfect 003 thousandth inch offset on each side. Comes out perfect. Then file teeth.

Great tip! Thanks for sharing, I will definitely try it in a future build. I live in a country where olive wood is ubiquitous and used as firewood. It kills me just thinking the amount of spalted and amazing grain that is transformed into ash.
