65% mood today. Cereal farming in Kilkenny in Ireland and we're in the same boat after the harvest. Our winter crops were sown in October when we had 10" (250mm) of rain and then a nasty drought after a very wet spring. Made for poor establishment spring and autumn. Glad to see the back of 2023 harvest. Love your point about the gambling, its a tough job we're at. Heres hoping for a great 2024 season

60% today, our first house move happens this week into a short term rental. It will be sad to leave the old house. September blues hitting in as autumn hits, shorter days and grey skies have a huge impact on mental health. Thinking of you all Olly, it has clearly been a tough season. Totally understand why you do not feel in control, so many factors affect the bottom line for agriculture. Furthermore, I can see bank boards deciding that they want less risk/exposure in the agri sector and start pushing businesses to reduce overdrafts effectively cutting off working capital going forward. Times are indeed tough and not sure there is currently any real glimmer of hope out there, time to batten down the hatches.

25%. Desperately need to pay a huge bill and am waiting on clients to send in payments owed to me so I can cover it. We raise TB’s in Kentucky and everything is sooo expensive right now compared to 3 years ago. Used to work on a farm near Ashford in Kent and watching your videos brings back good memories of the harvest, autumn cultivations etc… We had a lot of Masseys so I have enjoyed immensely watching your tractor rebuild.

95%. Got much accomplished today toward required tasks and long term goals. I dropped off the 4 cotton pieces I had bought yardage for and cut to make 202 days for girls shields with the gal who organizes sewers to make them to be given to missionaries to take where they are needed. Filled my car up with gas at Costco ( members wearhouse with better pricing) gas was under $5 a gallon for regular! Many gas stations along the roads that I passed are charging $5.60 and up a gallon. I went into Costco and bought boxes of items on my local high school’s food bank list for students from low income/homeless families. Now that school has started up again I will do that every trip I make to Costco. I am very aware how blessed I am to be able to take care of my needs and still be able to contribute a small part of someone else’s needs both locally and internationally and today that raised my percent a LOT!

70% today, Mondays are always a funny day, no paid work today so maintenance on the machinery, Mondays are always the same !

80% today. Work is getting me down, slugs are destroying my spring brassicas, grass too lush to cut effectively and my oldest dog is really suffering with his hips. All minor problems relative to those farmers have to endure at the moment.The only thing holding me up this high is the prospect of a Lord's ODI on Friday and a couple of rugby matches in France over the next few weeks.

30%. Just feeling very fed up and frustrated at the moment with everything. I love farming, but the lack of money in the system, staff, time off etc is just starting to get to me. I’ve got a little girl now and I really don’t want to miss any moments of her growing up but I love farming and don’t want to give up. I won’t be encouraging my little girl to go farming if things don’t improve. I want to live her life more than I did before committing to a career. I didn’t take my opportunities when they came up and now I really regret it, so I don’t want her to get to my age and have any regrets

I weld a washer into the broken bearing shell on the disc hub. Bit of heat and can give it a good hit on the washer to get the shell.out

Not surprising that so many in Farming are feeling the way they do; FW reporting worst Winter Wheat harvest in 11 years and a detached government not helping.
