Vintage Story is an open-world survival sandbox made by former Hytale developer, Tyron Madlener.
Vintage Story is a game about innovation and exploration. It thrusts the player into a carefully-generated semi-autonomous world and challenges them to survive and overcome the natural and unknown threats of their new home. Intrepid players who accept this challenge will find themselves rewarded with mechanics that respects their intelligence and allows for tangible, realistic invention. In addition, they’ll find a world with its own character and a deep, interconnected narrative within it. It aims to reach the next level of quality in the voxel sandbox genre, as we, a small dedicated team, relentlessly expand it with story elements, more creation tools and survival elements.

Rabbits and racoons will be attracted to your farm even with the fence. You can dig a 2x2 block deep trench around your farm. You'll get a some steady supply of red meat and small leather. Thank you again for the awesome video Paul!

I actually found a small trader camp while playing last night. It was a couple of caravans with 3 different vendors to trade. Between the caravans was a cooking pot and the traders were all out and about hanging in their little camp site. Usually they're cooped up inside their caravan, never coming out. It's a nice little touch to a game like this. :)

This game looks really good actually. It's like a deeper and more complex version of Minecraft. With a bigger emphasis on survival aspects.

Yyyup, that basically it. Minecraft modder had his basic experience there but got fed up with the limitations of the game and Java, so he decided to build his ideas from the ground up with a few friends. It is absolutely amazing but also kinda scary how a basically one-man show with a bit of hindsight could pack more content, better looks and performance into a game less then third the development time. Mojang should really up their game, but Vintage Story and soon Hytale coming in hot will light the fire under their feet to be forced to fight so the OG of the genre could remain the top dog. A little bit of free market competition will force every player to strive for better. Good times coming up. Did you know Tyron (VS lead dev) was part of the Hytale team? But choose his own path due to different ideas. HT goes more in depth with the RPG mechanics and lore and has a more cartoony light-hearted tone, while VS is on the hardcore survival end of the voxel sandbox survival genre. If we check the differences with a parallel in the FPS genre: Minecraft - Wolfenstein 3D Vintage Story - Bioshock Hytale - Borderlands

Tip: try removing the torches from the cellar to boost the time even more, if it has a non-breathable door (clay or soil or something) that may increase it even more than that

Oil lamps might be better as garden lights, also you should extend fence lines to your base for safety

The armor stand would be useful if you could just right click on it to remove and store your armor and then right to take and equip. Now you have to take it in your hands and than transfer for every single piece. Not practical and tedious.

In RLCraft, which uses many of the same mods, you can find permanent torches in found structures. They won't stack with the temp touches.

This isn't a minecraft mod. You can make a torch permanent by placing it in a torch holder, or otherwise use lanterns which are brighter anyway.

I am surprised that at least one of the following, Persson/Minecraft/Mojang/Microsoft were not sued given how much they are all worth, if that is the case. I would think any law firm would take that case. But thanks for the history. I'm going to look in to that.

So a recommended tactic to deal with Rabbits and Racoons getting your crops and berries is to have a 2 deep trench around them for them to get caught it, easy to find meat, and keeps your plants safe.

No, to prevent that kind of exploit you get no dirt back when digging up farmland.

I'm still so surprised you haven't done a Breath of the Wild series. That game is right up your alley. Especially if you play via the CEMU emulator with mods. It's excellent for a fantasy survival adventure game. I bet your viewers would love watching you play through that game. Just search Breath of the Wild CEMU setup on youtube. I own the game on Switch, but it's way better to play via PC with the emulator.

Not a Minecraft mod - Vintage Story is its own game. It's also pretty cheap, but still loads of fun. I highly recommend it.

@@takatacheroki2624 hmm okay, thanks! I looked at their home page, they are very defensive about the art style. Maybe they should make something a bit different. The visuals looks like a lazy 1:1 copy of MC. Looks fun though!

@@TheMainCore Well, regarding the art style; I've heard that the game originally was a Minecraft mod or was otherwise inspired by one, but that the mod couldn't do everything they wanted due to coding and performance limitations within Minecraft itself. That said, they do have a point about how voxel is a style and isn't unique to Minecraft. Sure, Minecraft was the first voxel game to get popular/famous, but the idea of a world made of blocks really isn't new. I mean, Legos have existed for who knows how long now.
