Thanks for sharing. This manufacturing technique has been a big part of industrial development. Glad you are keeping these skills alive!

Thanks! Yeah, a lot of skill and technology has been lost over the years like stories I have heard about the Saturn 5. I’m happy to do my small part to teach some things I have learned.

I'm impressed that you're making stamping dies out of aluminum. Thanks for sharing all the speeds and feeds. For a guy like me who is still learning his way around the tormach, it's very helpful.

Hey Greg! They have been working great for a few years now. I held off on making more because I was planning on going to steel but it seams there is no need. I feel like I am still learning my way around the Tormach also. Lol. Being a manufacturer, I don’t really use it in many different ways like a job shopper would.

The cover plates look real nice I’m surprised the aluminum dies hold up. 👍😎

Thanks! I made the first one about 2 1/2 years ago and has stamped thousands of parts. It still looks like new.

Those look good. How long does a set of dies last? Also, nice fixture plate!

Thanks! A long time. I have some dies that have stamped thousands of parts over a few years.

Surprised you did not make the dies out of tool steel (unless you are just doing prototyping)?

Yeah, it was just a test.

Is it possible to do like a girder bridge for O scale trains Bridge with rivet marking. Basically what I'm trying to ask is can computer do detail like a rivet marking Finer detail. You ever considered making tinplate toy trains. It wasn't Lionel train that created the first aluminum cast Passenger cars it was a machine a die tool maker. That was sand castings. But before that it was all standard gauge trains. Most all the tools and dies went overseas to China. Where Mike's train house started producing standard gauge trains. Mike's train house went out of business last year. There's always room for new manufacturers and new lines of products.
