I was a pipe layer for 18 yrs, You're 💯% correct Lever Monkey about come out of a manhole wether it's sewer or storm. There were some times you get to your next manhole and you're a tad low, what I would do is go back ( of course if it was a open ditch) & adjust two sticks back so you have a more gentle grade transition. That V bucket is the Stuff.

I like that your ground guys only give you what you need for guidance and nothing more, lol, I’ve had a few over the years that were over zealous to say the least:) I’ve only ever seen v-buckets on KZfaq, looks like it’s a bit faster then benching down, most of the deep stuff I did was in the street with double stacked boxes but I’ve done a few subdivisions where I’d cut 2 benches, one with my 66” “bailing” bucket and another with the 30” to make a safe hole on an 18’ or so cut, I miss doing deep pipe work, with a good crew on the same page there’s nothing better

Go for it! It will change your life to dig with one. I will be doing a bucket inspection in a weak or two. I will talk a bit about the trap bucket design, what is good and bad.

@@bozoone4464 wrong d-bag! I’m an operator for over 27 yrs and take precautions now that I didn’t use to. You have no clue wtf you’re talking about

I would close the side door but it is a Kobelco. The AC is not working and it was 98* out. As for breathing dust, That is the least toxic thing I have breathed in over my 30 years as an operator.
