Today I use many different materials to embellish a basic bamboo and cotton hand fan, turning it into a metallic gothic inspired accessory to use with my Cicada gown Victorian costume projects! I sculpt, sketch, paint, and sequin away here to complete my first project of 2021.
How I was sewing the sequins: americanfeltandcraft.wordpres...

But wait there's more! A PO BOX finally wahoo!
First, a disclaimer: So many of you have kindly offered to send me things, including vintage items you may have inherited, and I am so honored you would think of me and of course I do adore vintage treasures, however, unfortunately I only have so much storage space currently! So there is a chance that if something just wont work for me, or doesn't fit me etc, that I may not be able to keep all of your lovely things. Please only send things if you are okay with the possibility that I may donate items I just cannot keep. If you would prefer I put things that I can't keep into the TCH Etsy shop to help raise funds for me and the channel, please specify this in a note or letter in your parcel. Thank you so much!

A Pasta Maker can be used when you are working with clays to roll out flat, uniform thickness sheets. Just don't leave your eight-year old niece alone in your kitchen when you have clay on the kitchen table.....don't ask me how I know this.

Michaels carries an inexpensive "gold leaf" that is of course completely not made of real gold, but it sticks very well to raw polymer clay and can be baked. I use it on beads and fairy doors. The fan turned out beautifulI; I love the addition of the sequins (totally agree that flat sequins look classier for some reason).

Wow, that was a blast from the past! I haven’t heard of fimo since I was a kid in the 80s. My mom used it to make miniatures, and I remember her having to special order it from a craft store that had never heard of it before.

I make so many comments durning the early morning hours, I bet you think I’m a insomniac! You’d be right about that. It’s amazing the things I have watched and the things I have learned during the night. These fans are so pretty! I really wish we had fancy things to enjoy in today’s dressing customs. I can’t imagine future generations trying to imitate our current dress code of flannel pajama bottoms and sweat shirts. We do dress up sometimes by substituting yoga pants or jeans instead of the standard PJ bottoms, when we go out somewhere fancy, like Walmart or Burger King. I loved your project. I’m beginning to think there is no end to your talents for design and construction. I bet you could design furniture for your eras of interest. It wouldn’t surprise me to tune in and see a classic mid century dressing table, or bed ensemble, designed on your pattern paper, and spread out on the Blue Table Of Doom!

Gold leaf works really well with polymer. Mica powders (or eyeshadows) are great on polymer too, esp for insects because you can get lovely iridescent colours. They can be dusted onto raw clay using a paintbrush. Or even onto baked clay. The only thing is that the pieces need sealing to avoid the powder wearing off. Works particularly well on black clay as iridescent colours usually do. Hey, and ID watch you tambour a whole dress....tambours pretty fast really, but who cares lol

That turned out to be a very detailed project. Beautiful! Almost too good for the cheap fan that you started with. I'm thinking of all the variants you could make with that theme. Black feathers and rhinestones, Oh my!

It turned out really beautiful! I kind of want to make a fan now. You should definitely do a video on tambour embroidery! I've been teaching myself and there aren't many good videos on it. Using a proper frame for tambour makes it way easier than using a hoop because you can get more tension. I've got an elbesse star tapestry frame which is pretty good except that I had to drill extra holes in it. They come in loads of different sizes and are pretty cheap. I would like to make a big slate frame at some point though. I'd love to see what kind of design you'd come up with for a beaded dress

This was very enjoyable and relaxing to watch! I too would love to see what kind of hat you make. I think I might have been the only person thinking 'glossy taco!' each time you said 'glossy topcoat' - which I suppose says a lot about me. Edit: spelling

Greetings from Florida! Very familiar with Cost Plus from when I lived in California (20 years ago). An equivalent here in the Southeast (maybe even the same parent company), is World Market. Not sure of what they carry, but that's what company websites are for, yes? Now, back to the video!
