You need to heat the kydex much hotter and make sure you pre heat the foam and the mold your using. You’ll get way better definition. Otherwise everything else you did looks great.

Random question and I hope you might be able to help me: I recently bought a kydex holster for my Khar. The holster doesn’t really have that “click” or “snap” into place with the retention. Could I simply heat the kydex and press the holster tighter into the trigger guard to achieve that “click”?

There’s a little more to it than that. It’s basically achieved by having the kydex material quickly touching each other when the trigger guard separates them. That click or snap doesn’t directly correlate to quality of the holster. Does the holster have good retention?

@@lethal_engagement_solutions it doesn’t have great retention right now. It fits snug but the gun will 100% fall out if I turned it upside down and shook it. That’s kind of why I was thinking I could maybe just “heat and squeeze” to try and salvage what I spent on it. Hopefully achieving a “lock in” fit and the “audible click” if possible.

what is the average size kydex you use? Kydex comes in .060, .080, . 093. I think this is right, what do you recommend? Will be first time trying this, also I have heat press which I use for my T-shirt business but going to try it for this also, and will be making the holster for a Canik Elite sc with O light-mini 2 and also making for a S&W M&P 9c

Is that safe to put a polymer gun for holster shaping? I want to model my G20 holster, but I am worried the heat may damage the polymer frame.

Heating Kydex to molding temperatures will not cause damage to the firearm.

Nah man your good just keep a empty mag in it. Because you heat the material up then press it. I’ve been doing this half my life-family business and everything you know

It can cause your mag well to melt and cause damage, a few wraps of painters tape around a mag in the gun while molding prevents melting of the mag well.
