Harry, I love this one. I have watch a number of your videos in the past. You do an exceptional job of teaching folks your craft. I particularly like any that you do by hand since I mainly only have hand tools for leather...limited hand tools. This one was really cool and really quick. Thanks Harry and thank you for the inspiration. I may have to make something on our channel from one of your sets of plans on Etsy. -Kenny

Harbor Freight has a decent 15 lb anvil for $25, this anvil is too soft for much steel forming, but for leather and brass it's fine. Another inexpensive cutting surface is to buy two matching self adhesive vinyl floor tiles and glue them together, various sizes too.

Very nice

Suggest you put a piece of rubber between your anvil and the cutting-board to keep it from slipping.

I have learned a lot from this video, thank you. Would it make sense to hammer after every stitch? Also, I really like magnets. Have you incorporated magnets in your work?
@harryrogers6 жыл бұрын
Vencel Biro Thanks...its easier to hammer at the end and there is no risk of marking the leather with a dangling thread...magnets would be good with this as well...they are useful.All the best Harry

Hello ...I used 1mm which was a bit thick..although it's standing up to daily use very well....so probably 0.8mm! Rdgs Harry

That leather looks like a sidewall of a tire. Would that work as well?

Hi Harry. Where do you buy your leather from? I am a relative newbie to leatehr working, and have predominantly been using bridle leather for the items I make but am thinking of making other types of item which would use different leather. Also, how much do you think is a reasonable price to pay for already dyed leather? Thanks in advance

Somebody starting out with this project could buy an old handbag in a charity shop for the leather !! cost effective ,,,
