You should always have a drain hole at the bottom of a knife sheath to drain the rain water from the inside. I also oil the inside before stitching because the leather will hold moisture and rust carbon blades. Nice looking sheath.

Excellent workmanship! In defense to the statement," I wish you would explain what you are doing and why." Can't help but chuckle! I saw a "saying" once the simplifies the response......"If I had to explain, you wouldn't understand." I just finished cutting out a skinner with 'yote jaw bone handle. I will use your method to sheath. Thanks for sharing!

I took a leather class in high school back in 1974 and have been making leather goods since then. I had a business later and found that people would rather buy cheap things from abroad then pay for quality leather hand made goods. So I closed my business and now make for friends and family. I liked your project but not necessarily the finish. I choose something with a little more protection like acrylic resoline and maybe atom wax combined. Regardless, any leather item and crafter has my respect. Thank you.

Very nice rig that looks so bushcrafty makes ya want to grab your knife head on out to the woods and live off the land .....atleast for a day or two ;) LOL Great job man, I love seeing things come to life like that, it is so cool starting with an idea and watching it grow ya never know what ya can add and come up with for the final product. I really want to try doing this also kydex sheaths to, it looks really fun and the materials don't cost much at all. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing. One question: In the beginning, you bevel the edges of the flat piece before wet molding, but then at 5'50" you square the piece and cut the previously beveled edges off. Is the edge beveling in the beginning necessary if those edges will be cut off later?

Thanks for the video! Assuming you've done this many times, it would be nice for us newbies to know your process with some dialogue, i.e. was that water you used? how long was it left in the liquid? the types of tools that was used?...Cheers.
@omardumbrell4355 жыл бұрын
Jimmy Huynh yes it was warm water. You leave it in the liquid till you stop seeing bubbles, you shouldn't have to soak anything more than a minute.
