In this leather craft video, watch me make a belt sheath for a Puma Emperor folding pocket knife. I decided to line it with veg-tan pigskin. This added some complexity for a type of sheath that normally fairly simple.
Tooling stamps I used in this video (purchased fromTandy Leather):
Craftool Pro B2045
Craftool X5025
Craftool M882
Craftool M881
#leather #leathercraft #craft
My laser for cutting the acrylic templates is an xTool P2. Some links from xTool to save a few bucks when purchasing:
The P2: www.xtool.com/pages/deposit-o...
Trade in any open diode machine for an enclosed xTool and get up to $500 off. Plus, get a free Fire Safety Set for your peace of mind.

Can you say, “Custom Made.” Beautiful work, as usual. I always enjoy your wok. Always trying to pick up some technique, practice or even a product to use or try out. I like the use of the pre-dyed pig skin as a liner, as well as the way in which you covered the opening. Excellent process. I agree using a water based adhesive is a much better product to glue leather. For me the extra time to position my peace’s and the bonding is as strong as, if not stronger, construction contact cement. In reading other comments , one questioned the Wuta punches. I have just completed a four sized set of the pricking /punches. I like them very much. I have learned that the Wuta 4mm is the equivalent to the 2mm diamond chisel and the Wuta 5mm is the equivalent to 3mm diamond chisel. This helps me in using the Wuta with my patterns. I joke how you incorporated the laser cut pattern on acrylic. But most of all how you used the cut out to hold your leather as you stamped it. Excellent Work! Please keep the projects coming.

I really appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into your projects, and I would like your expertise on the best single/double-capped rivets to use for heavy-duty leather applications, like for tool belts and heavy duty dog collars. I have some lighter-duty double-cap rivets that come in handy for small knife sheaths and not-so-heavy-duty pieces of equipment, as well as some copper rivets and burs which hold very well, but just aren't as stylish in certain applications. I just don't want to waste my money on rivets that wouldn't suit my needs, and I know you would have some good recommendations. Thank you

Have you looked at tubular rivets? Or Chicago screws? There's also open back screws.
@broadhead4311

@@RoadAgentLeather Thank you for the considerations. I think I'm going to go with the tubular rivets. 👍
@RoadAgentLeather
@RoadAgentLeather 4 ай бұрын
@@broadhead4311 You'll need a setter for the tubular rivets. There's a hand-held version that only works with the shortest rivets. Any longer and you'll need a press with the proper dies. Otherwise they're fold over while trying to set them.

Sick project, really like the folding over of the liner. I've got a few questions- some are related to this, some are just general for your channel - In some of your other projects, you use an aussie conditioner, some you use resolene, while here you use aussie and then resolene. What determines when you seal it and when you only condition it? - How is your experience with the wuta tools? they are pretty cheap on the website, but I'm a little skeptical about the quality - what are the pads you use for dying in some of your videos? they look like wool or fleece pads, where do you get them? Thanks
@RoadAgentLeather
@RoadAgentLeather 4 ай бұрын
In this instance, I used Aussie as a 'resist' for the antiquing cream simply because I'm out Pro-Resist at the moment (I had to heat it because it's freezing in my shop and needed it to penetrate the leather.) The antique will darken the leather to a degree no matter how much resist you put on it. I didn't want the overall color to darken much more than it already was so I was trying to prevent it from getting much darker. The Resolene is the sealer. Sometimes I skip sealing just because I'm not fond of the glossy finish it leaves on everything. In this case, I was fine with it. I've had very good luck with the Wuta stuff. Most of it I purchased from Amazon. They've even sponsored my channel before (at my request!) The pads are the "Synthetic Wool Buffing Pads" sold by Tandy Leather. Make sure to pull the excess fibers out of new pads before using!

As a new owner of a P2, I’m grateful for your videos featuring the tool usage. I’m struggling with the Creative Space software. It seams very limited. I’m competent with acad, but don’t have it on the home computer. What software do you use for design?

I use Adobe Illustrator for my actual design work. It's a paid subscription that's kinda pricey. However, Inkscape is a good (and free) vector app I've played a little with. I see Creative Space as just the software that runs the machine. I don't design in it.

Yoh my man..question for you if you wouldn’t mind entertaining me: using Fiebing’s maccasin brown, 91% isopropyl alcohol as a thinner (I can’t find denatured), wool pad applicator, and finishing the color scheme with black antique I get an often blotchy result. All that work and I’m not getting a smooth look!! Leather is 10oz veg tan but my results are always blotchy no matter the weight of leather. Any thoughts on that?
