You can't quite call this leathercraft, but I've been spending my "off" time building and racing vintage motorcycles with my pops. I've made a few seat covers now for our builds and decided to film this one since it's been a while since i've uploaded a project. It's a little strange to be working with vinyl in my leather workshop, but I DO plan on making a leather seat for my own ride very soon. I'm thinking something from Horween;)
This seat is for a 1983 Honda XR350R built to compete in the local vintage motocross races. We've always been huge fans of the 70's era 2 stroke motocross bikes and wanted to build a 4 stroke bike that resembled, yet stood out from all the famous 2-stroke racers of the 70's like the CZ's, Maicos, Bultacos, Honda Elsinores, Huskys, etc...It definitetly turned some heads at the races. In fact, I raced this one myself and got 1st overall AND the holeshot award. The bike turned out phenomenal and there's a lot more like it to come.
If you want to learn more about our builds (and pick up a killer tee while you're at it) you can visit

I appreciate that your videos are calm and portray the work itself. You do not line your videos with annoying headache inducing 'KZfaqr music,' and I can take what works from what you are doing without feeling like I'm sitting at a bad party in high school. There isn't a schtick and i can just calmly learn something. Usually watching stuff like this requires tolerance. I finished your video still feeling calm. Thank you, from a guy with severe ptsd.

Amen to what you said and its country specific, if you say, watch a video from "Japan" they will place the music in a different way and tend towards "jazz" New zealand rock ... england "techno, electronic " its all annoying !

The blade on your rotary cutter will stay sharp a lot longer if you use a wood straight edge, instead of glue I used household staples on tricky sections but with enough practice you really don’t need anything. You just have to learn how to feed both materials at the same tension. Nice work, the bike looks awesome

@Stock and Barrel Co I've learned so much from you guys, such a huge inspiration! I have one question though.. On social media like youtube and instagram, do you try and engage with more people who are interested in learning about starting leather craft or the people who are more interested and likely to buy your products? Just asking because I'm starting a leather business myself and I'm not sure what kind of content to post. Thank you guys for all the great stuff you've done!

Good job man. Great bikes too! I am curious how the TechSew does on that vinyl. I am doing a fair bit of upholstery like that (actually massage, medical, chiropractic tables, etc) and I was thinking about getting that 2750, or maybe the 2750 Pro (not sure the diff). I really want to use it for leather but that vinyl thing keeps popping up too.

If you're having trouble holding things temporarily on vinyl..seamstick basting tape. It's repositionable, tacks REALLY well and is cheap. I get it at Sailrite. It holds pretty much anything I do together unless it's just too nappy (like a felt/wool/fleece/etc). Works for leather too...upholstery grade chrome tan or veg.

@NGinuity
@NGinuity 2 жыл бұрын
@@rcamoonpie648 something is definitely not right. I've literally seen through seamstick all day with weaker v69 nylon thread and a 17 needle with no thread breaks. In fact the only annoyance was that the seamstick left a clump at the top of the needle from all the residue build up that I had to clean off. Sorry you're having trouble, you definitely have my attention with that issue. A 20 needle with bonded 92 makes a huge hole.

I work in upholstery, although I'm definitly not a pro... Usualy we would put sewing marks all across the edge to sew, when making the template. We then sew lining up the marks while sewing, and push/pull matter to fit properly. But that would we more appropriate when making fabric template on the saddle, not paper as you do... paper works fine for simple stright shapes but you might have to use fabric if you ever work on a more complex shaped saddle!
