This has definitely been on my to do list for quite a period of time and I've finally managed to get around to a 'proof of concept', prototype, first draught of a Sofa C Table. Lots of new techniques tried out to achieve that rounded over mitre look which has a Scandinavian kind of influence to it, plenty mistakes made along the way but overall happy with how it turned out and a possibility of a future sales product if I can figure out a suitable flatpack method of construction👍.
As ever, thank you so much for your continued support in my disability woodworking adventures. Best Wishes, Leo Winstanley

Top man Leo. I am renovating my new home in Spain, lots of rubbing down and painting. I was outside in 25 degree heat in the shade (I was in the sun, hotter) and rubbing down 100s of metres of metal railings for 10 hours, switching hands as one got tired. You immediately sprung to mind. You make fun of your glue ups in this video, but as well as the admiration I (and I guess many others) have for your clever improvisations in delivering your superb projects, you must get really tired taking double the weight all the time on one arm. Absolutely inspiring stuff. 👍👏👌

Seeing you use that domino; The PVC pipe was good but can’t help think a 3D printed adaptor would work so much better. If it’s not an issue, don’t worry. But if you’d like to make it easier and/or more comfortable, am sure I could help. Am UK based.

The Domino is definitely a check thrice tool. I can _assure_ you that you are not the first, nor will you be the last. Good effort Dude. It looks great. I have no idea how commercial that item might be. I wouldn’t use it for the purpose that you designed it for. I _would_ be much more interested in a version of it that held an iPad / tablet in a similarly convenient location.

Another excellent project Leo, although a plank and some six inch nails into the couch would've been quicker 🤣 Hint'n'tip, you've probably seen it done, but tape along the edges before gluing up saves a lot of clean up and sanding ... did it for the first time making my friends bamboo speaker cabinets (video up later today) 👍 And mistakes, you're a beginner at that, the above mentioned speakers seemed to be a mistake from beginning to end ☹

Nice one Leo! I’ve been thinking about making something like this for a while but the strength at the mitre joints has always been my concern. If you sell them make sure you include something to tell people not to sit on them, you know how litigious people are these days - and dumb in some cases!!

Leo that looks a fantastic piece of furniture. Im even tempted to have a go myself, either with dowels or the clips (I’d finally have a use for that biscuit jointer that’s been sat on the shelf. I’m interested to know where you acquired that lovely birch. I’m in Southport and I haven’t found a decent wood supplier around here yet. Your wax looks just the job. I might pop by and pick up a couple of tins. Keep up the good work. Ken Myerscough, Southport UK 👍

Cheers for the message Ken. Yes if you’re ever after some wax I’ll sort it sometime if you want to call by. The birch was lucky as I got it from a clearance from a yard I deal with occasionally. If you’re after some different hardwoods I’d definitely recommend getting in touch with PB Hardwoods up in Kirkby. Not too far for you and they have an incredible selection. Hi Leo, I think that the clamex connectors need to be used in conjunction with the Lamello jointer. This cuts a slightly different slot to the standard biscuit jointer and it anchors the clamex into the workpiece, which then allows the two halves to lock together with a rotating cam. I'm fairly sure that a standard biscuit jointer will not work with them.
@Hand-i-Craft
@Hand-i-Craft 6 ай бұрын
Hello Jon, cheers for the message pal. To my knowledge these clamex 2 connectors are a recent product specifically designed to work with biscuit jointers that are fixed in place with some small screws. I’ve seen Matt Estlea and Peter Millard test them. Looking forward to trying them out to see if it’ll work with these mitre joints 👍👍

Worked out great and I’m glad you left the mistake in. I’m doing some 45° biscuit joints this wknd and I’d have made the same mistake for sure! 😅 You mentioned your table saw. Cheers Mark and best of luck with the biscuit cutting! In regards to the table saw I used to have the Evolution Rage 5-S but sold it in favour of a tracksaw and bandsaw set up instead. For the price it was a good machine, plenty power and the fence was great. Downsides were it was extremely noisy and the dust collection was shocking. Reality of it though is it’s designed as a site saw so fair dos on the downsides 👍👍
