That is beautiful. I was just explaining to someone on Facebook what makes a razor and why the many razor shaped knives that are popular right now aren't really razors. Your work always impresses me.

Nice work, love the wooden box, always wondered how they kept from damaging the delicate edge without folding into the handle.

Very nice knife! Razors are cool but I'm afraid I will cut myself. Also I think I can't get it sharp enough. I had some furnace cement but I didn't close the lid and it all dried out, so no hamons for me :(

That turned out beautifully Tim! Love the box you made for it too! Did you use a router to do that? And if so what type, if you don't mind me asking. I'm mainly curious because a while ago, a brother in our church asked me to rehandle one of his kitchen knives ( the usual cheap, slim bladed, very low hollow ground, partial tang with shrunken, cheap, wooden scales) so I choose paper micarta and did a mortised tang but did it with only tiny little wood carving chisels. I told him I'd just make him a new and "better" one for free, but he likes the cheap one, I think it was sentimental, so that actually made it harder than just starting from scratch. lol Anyway, it's always great to see a new vid from you brother, hope all is good. BTW, sorry I never really got back to you regarding that long message I sent ya on FB... :-/
@SugarcreekForge
@SugarcreekForge 8 жыл бұрын
+lsubslimed Hi, Paul - Good to hear from you as always. I used a router to make the box. Any router will work. You can even get a router attachment for a dremel tool. That would work well for small stuff like mortising a tang. No worries about any of that other stuff, buddy. Hope you are well.

really nice job!! what type of metal did you used? Thx!!
@SugarcreekForge

Thank you very much! I used a steel called "W2". It is an old school water quenching steel (hence the "W"). It is a very simple, but honest steel and takes a great edge.

you should roll the razor over the spine while stropping and not over the edge, that way you will get it much sharper
