The slowly unfolding reveal during this video was a great approach. My wife actually uses this approach teaching art to middle schoolers. It really keeps The audience interested and engaged and curious. It's a good way to spark their imagination and prompt them to think creatively.

Btw, at work I use something called Screen To Gif, also very efficient, it analyzes all pixels that change to only change those areas of the picture when exporting the gif, and only uses those areas of the color pallet. I assume it's the same thing this software is doing with the video.

Recent subscriber here. You can't answer why you succeed as a You Tuber. Let me help (you are modest, which is good). You do a lot of things right, your tutorials are interesting, you know what you are doing. I just got started with Blender in the last year, but I've been dabbling with 3D for many years. I always learn at least 3 things from your tuts. You have your workspace set up for a good result, good camera and microphone, and the lighting in your little cabin in Norway is very good. The most important thing though is your wonderful personality, which can't be copied or faked. You, sir, are a natural.

Haven't really thought about the encoding logic you mention before, but it does make sense. Also it's possible in Windows to make your graphics card decode all your videos with the on chip hardware, but probably less than 1% has it set up that way. So this makes sense to do. But also worth considering difference between containers and codes, a lot of people mix them. Sidenote, skikkelig hyttefølelse i studioet ditt :D

The file size is possible because there is not much data for colors in there. It's same like black and white images. The less different colors and shades, the smaller a files. Like when you save a gif in Photoshop and limit the amount of colors, the less colors you add the smaller the file

This may not be a "Fun" video to watch, but I have wanted to customize my desktop using Blender for a few weeks and this will absolutely help. I had just looked how to change folder icons to custom images the other day, and obviously its easy to make a desktop back ground you just render image to resolution size but animating it did not cross my mind.

lol this reminds me of the old "Screen Savers" (i miss them) that we had to use on the old CRT monitors. to keep them from having screen burn. "The more things change, the more they stay the same. " and "what goes around, comes back around." "what is old is now new, just updated." lol

lively has a Parallax demo file that comes with the software. and there are parallax plugins for blender ( in the last year or so, gumroad has a few ). combinding those with lively and with PolyFords workflow you could probably create those wallpapers for phones using the accelerometers. but that coding for accelerometer use would be more phone side. and not blender side. but I like where you heads at, it could be done.

Hey Asbjorn! Loved this tutorial, but I've got a problem on the final image sequencer. I've followed the tutorial pretty much the same as you told, one thing I did by myself was to disable the 'Sequencer' checkbox in Post Processing, since it showed an error that rendering border will not work with sequencer enabled. Now when import both the animation and background, the animation shows up but not on the background! Please if you could help it'd mean the world to me!! ♥
