During my dear Mother's service a butterfly landed on her coffin then flew to my shoulder and back to Mother's coffin. No one said a word, it was a breathtaking experience. She remains my very best friend. I consider it a gift. I believe Brooke and Jason added a bit of 'faux grass carpet' in the collection tray to help cushion the movement. I hope the girls will be highly productive. That's a nice setup. Love this channel!

Hi guys good job putting the laying box together with almost no instructions ! Cog Hills laying box has a very thin indoor/outdoor piece of carpet where the hen lays the egg and the egg rolls easily down the slanted area ! Hope this helps , the shavings might not work as well as the egg gets obstructed from rolling freely ! The box looks great though, I hope the chickens like it !! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈

Cog Hill's is the same color. Theirs is like 6/8 boxes and there is a cover that stays shut and then they open to get the eggs and put back.theirs is all metal. They have flaps over theirs.

Hi Stephanie and Buddy. Cog Hill said something the other day that their nesting boxes came with a sort of indoor/outdoor carpet. That sounds like it would work better for letting the eggs slide down. Maybe let the hens get used to laying in there and then switch it to some carpet if it doesn't work with the shavings.

We have Duncan boxes with no roll outs. And the boxes are very sturdy. We got an automatic door in May and a large feeder. My husband is having some issues with his heart and this is better on him and my crippled self. We are getting his heart issues looked after so praying for Gods healing hand to be with Dr & my husband. 😊

Cog Hill Farm has a link to the one they have, and they were thinking of more chickens and adding another nesting box. I bet this one will work too. Happy egg gathering 😊

The little indoor/outdoor turf squares work great in the nesting boxes for a soft landing. And they can be hosed off and set out to dry if they get dirty.

Hi Steve and Buddy! Lol! I just want to mention that, if for some reason the eggs are not rolling out. You could always put a slight "Wedge" of wood along the top, where the Nesting box is screwed in to increase the incline a little.

I think your new nesting boxes are going to work out great. I think its pretty cool the egg rolls down in the little bucket. I can't wait to see how many eggs you get in your new boxes. Very cool for sure. 😊

The black swallowtail caterpillars eat dill, parsley, fennel, carrot tops & rue. They won’t kill the plant & you get a beautiful butterfly in return. 🐛🦋🐛🦋🐛🦋 I❤your new laying boxes for your chickens. 🐓🐥🐓🐥🐓 When I saw the name of your video I thought you were making “egg rolls”!

I think in my 60 years I have eaten my far share of gnats growing up in middle Georgia although there’s not as many gnats here where I live as there is South Georgia where my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins lived. Gnats are the reason why most Northerners think Southerners are so friendly, because were constantly waving yeah, we’re waving to get gnats away from our face.

They say if a butterfly comes for a visit it's a loved one coming for a visit from the heavens

I'm not sure that is the same nesting boxes that Cog Hill has, but I do remember she buys liners for the inside instead of using shavings and just throws them out when they need it and replaces them. Brooke really likes the nesting boxes. Hope yours work great for you

Hi Steph and Buddy 😊 it is awesome when I got my new chicken coop built. the guy that built it did my nesting boxes this way. He designed it after the coop designers Carolina coops. I have three nesting boxes and I have artificial grass where they lay. And it's the way you put your artificial grass with the blades going down so the eggs can just roll down into the collection box(it might work better for your situation too if the shavings don't work).on mine you don't have to enter the coop. It's Very cool. Then your eggs never get dirty from other chickens sitting on them unless they have of course parasites and they come out that way. It's a lot easier to tell when you need to treat them for parasites. I'm very happy for you guys that you're adding it to your coupe.

Hope this works for your gals … I’m sure it will! Will keep the eggs clean & beautiful! You guys do you and fie on anybody who doesn’t like it! (Especially when it comes to hair!…says this child of the 70’s)

I like Buddy's hair just the way it is. My dad was bald on the top of his head at the age of 21, his dad also. They didn't shave their head back those days. I have a sister who has thinning hair. I can almost sit my hair.

Steve, all those bee boxes paw paw is throwing away would make great lay boxes, just cut some wood squares and screw them to the bottom, make a wood frame out of the scrap wood laying around. or flower boxes, the possibilities are endless. #repurpose

I have seen on cog hill there is no shavings in the nesting box, they have like the fake grass carpet. That way nothing blocks the egg from rolling.
