Its time to complete the next step for the acoustic guitar build. I'm making and installing the spalted maple and padauk rosette. This rosette turned out awesome. Its not as difficult as I thought it might be.

Nice Rosette! Beautiful wood! Because the sound hole is on a 3/16" pin with your circle cutting jig, its not going anywhere, so you don't need to secure it. Rather make sure the soundboard is secure so it doesn't move once the wood of the sound hole is cut free from the sound board. It can move and be damaged by the still spinning router blade.

Very nice rosette. I was hoping to see what double sided tape you use- make and model. CA glue will discolor most spruce- it wicks into the end grain. The entire ID and OD of the rosette channel is end grain. Using a Q-tip dipped in shellac and run around the end grain will seal it from the CA. Great video

What many makers do is save the soundhole cut out , sign it, date it and put specs and buyer info on it. Neat right!

I saved it as well. It will be signed and placed in the case with this guitar.

This is the next logical step on my first build, and this is the exact video I needed at just the right time!!! Mine will be a Canarywood rosette with a Bolivian Rosewood strip on Sitka. Thanks brother, and nice work!

This is difficult Jeff my friend. To do this, I have to find the right place, because my wife will chase me away because of the dust I will cause. 😂😂😂Thank you very much for the information and the lesson. Greetings from sunny Greece ... Konstantinos.

DOOD!! That came out great for a first time. I have seen full built instruments in Guitar Center no where near as clean as that. Well done. Cool learning the process too.

Great job Jeff. You always go around in circles. 😉 I haven't forgotten about you. Just been busy. I'm hoping to catch this Wednesday's Live @9am MT. It will be here on KZfaq correct? I lost track. Catch you later my friend. Say hi to the family for me.

Would you say the StewMac circle cutting tool is worth the money? Because like all StewMac stuff, it's a little pricey. Good quality, but pricey.
@homebuiltshop
@homebuiltshop Жыл бұрын
I agree it's pricey but it worked great. All their tools have a lifetime warranty so that means something to me. I would say it's a one time investment versus buying a cheaper one and having to possiblyreplace it later on.. To me, it's worth it.

This is a rather complicated circle router jig but looks to be very handy and versatile. check out this video. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fMecZ9t73Ky6lqc.html

My edit didn’t post I see. The choice of wood works really well, especially as it’s a personal piece of wood.
