I will Toni, but as a hint look at the ingredients of septic safe toilet cleaner. I bet you find citric acid. This dissolves lime scale and is anti bacterial. Make a 5% citric acid solution with a little dish soap added 😉

Are you using Renaissance Wax (ren wax) for the microcrystalline component?

Do you use JUST the MW/Carnuba mixture or do you mix the mixture with something else like mineral oil?

@@EnglishCountryLife No. I use Microcrystalline Paraffin wax, about £16 / kg on ebay. It would be nicer if bees learned to make M/C Beeswax ;

@@susanp.collins7834 It does need to be cut with a solvent to carry the wax. If it were just a wax mix it would be solid as a rock and impossible to apply. You can use white spirit or turpentine with or without boiled linseed oil. I tend to use white spirit as it is much cheaper than pure turpentine and does exactly the same job. It thins the wax to a paste and after application, it evaporates leaving the wax behind. Turpentine has a pretty powerful smell which tends to hang around a bit longer than the white spirit smell. I cant give you a proportion of white spirit you need as I test it as I go along. I melt the waxes add some w. spirit and put a few drops of the mixture onto a steel plate. It cools very quickly and you can test to see how soft it is when it 'sets'. If too hard, add a bit more and try again. Hope this helps

Generally I use a food safe, non polymerising oil on utensils. A good run with wire wool, then a thorough soak in oil. I use flaxseed oil as it's fairly flavourless whereas something like walnut oil can impart s taste. Hugh

Generally not no. It's not generally bad unless left on a cloth. Even then, it isn't definitely going to combust. But it is an unstable reaction as it polymerises & the risk is there

The problem with carnauba is cracking - its so very hard. I would suggest trying no more than 5%

I also have chickens(3), garden, make everything I can, and so forth, in Montana, USA! In thanks, here is a food safe wax recipe I "developed" myself for cutting boards (I have a few NICE blocks): 3 parts coconut oil to 1 part beeswax, melt in double boiler. Remove from heat and add several drops lemon essential oil and let it set up.. If you like, you are welcome to present this concoction on your channel. I apply with my hands, to be honest, about once a month.It hardens into the pores nicely and of course does not go rancid. No more "food-grade" mineral oil!!!! (not that I ever used that). People on YT are always yakking about food safe wood conditioners and I have not seen a better one. :)

Its equal parts of the three ingredients. If you measure the volume of your container (by weighing it empty then full of water) it should be straightforward to estimate roughly how much of each ingredient you need

Another thing I got yesterday for 50p really made me smile ... a nearly full tin of Ronuk wax - marked '3d off' ! I used to use this wax as a lubricant for the 0000 wire wool pads I used when removing old layers of dirt and wax.
