It takes a guy like you to know what, and how best to do something, but it makes things so much easier when you have the right tools! Great job on the breadboard tenons! I don’t have top of the line tools, but I have a fair assortment of decent tools to make most jobs easier. My problem is that when I go about working on a project, I often don’t think about, or remember the tools I have that would make the job easier until quite sometime later, after the projects been completed! I only do woodworking as a hobby, but damn, sometimes I think I need a new hobby that doesn’t require thinking! I even find tools all the time that I didn’t even know I had, several of which I don’t think I ever used! Lesson to newbies, only buy the basic tools you need to get started, and then only buy a new tool(s) when you need it for a project, you know you’ll need it on other projects in the future, and/or it will make tasks far easier and quicker in the future!

I fine this a time consuming and wasteful in material method, when all you have to do is mortise on both ricieving ends joint together with large 4x8 domino's.

What wood are you using? Cedar, fir, spruce...? What are the poles you cut on the saw mill?
@dustylumberco
@dustylumberco Жыл бұрын
This is fir. The poles are cedar
@stumpbumpers
@stumpbumpers Жыл бұрын
@@dustylumberco Are the poles of cedar from standing dead trees, reclaimed, or something else? Just curious because they are very dry and checked. Interesting where folks source different wood from.

@@stumpbumpers they are actually old power poles

@@dustylumberco That’s what I thought they were. Interesting, because our old ones in Eastern NC are creosote and newer ones tar bottoms and heavily treated with copper naphthenate or similar. I wouldn’t reuse our’s for indoor, but an outside table base might work well. Thanks
