Very nice pieces. How do you support them when you are glaze firing them? Also do you fire the luster and the red accent color?

Hi! They get a bit smaller. How much... will depend on the shrinkage percentage of the specific clay you use

These are great! How do you place them in the kiln after their glazed to ensure no running happens and doesn’t mess up the shelves?
@UmiCeramics
@UmiCeramics 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you! ♥In order to fire pieces that have been glazed on both sides you need a support to hang them inside the kiln... so that they do not touch the shelves! A tower with wires that withstand high temperatures (from which you hang the pieces.) I'll try to upload images of my support in the community section!

@UmiCeramics 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you! I think the most necessary tools are: a wood rolling pin, a cutter, a needle tool, sponges, ribbon tools, and I use spatulas for almost everything! brushes, and maybe wood modeling tools... it depends on what type of pieces you want to make. (I'm using a canon camera, model t6i)

How many hours should I fire it after applying the gold rust? And can I just apply one layer?
@UmiCeramics
@UmiCeramics Жыл бұрын
Hi! The way in which I fire gold luster is as follows: -I increase the temperature 4 degrees per minute until it reaches 750 degrees (final temperature depends on which brand of luster you are using) -then do a 15 minute "plateau". About 3 and a half hours... You can apply one layer, neither too thin (it will look purple) nor too thick (it could crack)

@UmiCeramics

Thank you ♥♥♥♥! It depends where you are but most ceramics supply stores sell gold luster! Or you can buy it on internet, "Duncan" and "Prodesco" manufacture very good quality lusters

Thank you! ♥This clay needs to be fired at 1180°. For this type of ornaments I recommend medium or high temperature clay, so that they do not break easily

Thank you! ♥ To be able to glaze pieces on both sides you need a support to hang them inside the kiln. There are many types of supports... but in general they all consist of a tower with wires that can withstand high temperatures without bending, from which you hang your pieces (through the holes you made them previously). In my case I use nikron wire! I hope my answer is helpful

@UmiCeramics
@UmiCeramics 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! As these pieces are very thin... I recommend you using stoneware or, even better, porcelain. Or you can use a low temperature clay but making the ornaments thicker. In this video I used stoneware formulated for mid temperature, the stoneware formula I showed how to make in a previous video can work perfectly!
