Easy to make Disc beads. Also known as saucer beads. These are being seen primarily coming out of the Philippines and as of now- from you!

great tutorial! TFS! The baby discs could make nice spacer beads. :) Clever to use the cotton swab tubing! I saw in another tutorial that showed how it helps to get the rolling started by offsetting the wide ends a little (slightly staggered). No lump in the middle, IE smooth hole. Oh! I bet these would make a great tree ornament by stacking graduating sizes (baby disc, 6 strip disc, 9 strip disc, 12 strip disc, and so on).

I absolutely love your idea for the ornament! I'm going to have to do this! 😉

That q-tip issue was making me insane, lol. I'm sitting here thinking, "…she taped it to a stick then just cut the end. Where's the hole?!" In my obviously sheltered life I've never seen a hollow q-tip. I'm glad I saw this before buying any tools. Sadly, for the most important part of this video your hands were out of view. (Adjusting the unruly multiple tips with a toothpick.) As I'm just starting out I probably won't be doing the disc first. This will be a big change from glass, metal and stone but I'm excited picturing all that pretty scrapbook and parchment paper at the craft store. I may be back with questions about glue and gloss but I'll watch more of your videos first. Thanks!
@marytabler6446 жыл бұрын
Maiasatara I was wondering the same thing... How does she get the Q-tip stick out!? ;-)

Would it be a good idea to glue the pieces together at the beginning when using a lot of strips and what do you coat them in?
@googbarbara7 жыл бұрын
i love the idea of using the plastic tube from a cotton swab. i just checked the ones i have [q-tip brand] and see that it is solid core. would you mind telling us what brand you used that has the plastic hollow core? i'm thinking one of those plastic coffee stirrers might work as well. thanks so much for this video!

Hi. This video is very interesting. It's hard to see everything though. You mentioned that the strips are about 1/4 inch. They look like they taper down from the 1/4 inch. How wide is the narrow end of the strip? In other words, what does the very end of it taper down to? Thanks!

Please explain "the trimming" so the bead can be strung. I am expecting a struggle to separate the q-tip stick from the tape inside the bead.

I was really enticed by your video, but unfortunately, most of your work was off camera. I would have liked to have seen close-up of the finished beads, as well. I actually searched for other videos to supplement what I heard on your video.
@HeyGirlie929 жыл бұрын
Really informative. Thank you! I don't see how these fun disks can be used as beads...there's no hole. The Q-tip stick is in the center. Any remedy for that?
@kimberlyartcom9 жыл бұрын
The beauty of using the plastic Q-tip is that they are hollow. When rolling your beads, it is a handle. When your bead is finished, you snip off the end, leaving the plastic tube inside the bead and once you've sealed the outside your bead is ready to use. Did that help?
@zazalamarr86106 жыл бұрын
lighting is bad, too, and there's no zoom so we can't even see the finished beads

Pye Squire it must be like what happens to me when I'm concentration, like long road trips, set the cruise, and have to reset it every 7 and a half minutes because the speed changes, so then I forget to use the cruise control and I'm using my foot again, so then I'm doing ninty (I really did lol) while listening to audiobooks. I just forget what I'm doing when I'm wrapped up in two things I'm supposed to be doing lol.
