I was such a Dacyczyn groupie. I had the newsletter and even contributed one idea that was published in her Tightwad Gazette book. Little did I know I would be divorced with two children and needing to cut back. It didn't take long to realize my potential. I learned to cook. I planted a huge garden. I learned to sew and bought fabrics at an outlet store. Soon I realized that I could have healthier food and better clothes than everyone...and for so much less. A great way of living.

I miss the old days. They need to have programs like this again. Not dumb fake “reality” tv shows.

I remember buying the Tightwad Gazette for my brother and SIL as a wedding gift. They didn't get it. But I actually was given the book back in two years. I was 22, pretty broke, and willing to take whatever steps needed to achieve my freedom. It was one of the many things that changed my life for the better and I'm glad to see Amy is doing well. Thanks Amy!

I've never read any of Amy's books or heard her speak but I do a lot of what she preaches about being frugal
